I have a feeling that my great, great Grandmother Lavinia Berrington (nee Cutts), although christened in Whitewell, Derbys. about 1796, moved to Retford about with her father George, her mother Frances and her brother William. William certainly died there in 1871 and Lavinia inherited what he had. In the 1871 census (Burslem, N.Staffs) she gave her place of birth as Retford so it looks as if she spent most of her childhood there until she turned up in Wollaton Church Nottingham in 1821 to marry my great, great Grandfather Robert Berrington. Robert was a licensed victualler in Long Row Nottingham which makes me wonder if her Cutts branch were connected to the George Cutts of Retford who was a Grocer & Wine and Spirits merchant in 1881. Perhaps someone else can help. 1) Has anyone any information on the parents of this George? 2) If anyone ever has the need to access the Whitewell parish records would they please keep an eye open for the christening of Lavinia around 1796. 3) If anyone is looking at the Wollaton Church marriage records at any time, I would be most grateful for full details of the entry for the marriage of Robert Berrington & Lavinia Cutts 21st November 1821. Cheers, Brian
