Rachael Mary CUTTS (occ:file cutter)had William Robert Hunstan/Hunstone CUTTS on 3 February 1875, at 2 Independent Hill, Nottingham, there is no father on the birth certificate, so, I am assuming he was illegitimate, therefore maybe the HUNSTAN/HUNSTONE name has significance. At some point he moved to Sheffield, where he married: Esther HALL on 9 October 1898 at St Johns, Sheffield. Her address at the time was 20 Weigh Lane, Sheffield. Esther HALL died on 1 March 1924, by internal haemorrhage, while turning a mangle!!. Williams' address was 13 Shales Square, Duke Street, Sheffield, his occupation was Steeplejack, and family legend has it that he put the statue on top of the town hall in Sheffield.(Not sure how I would verify that!) He died in WW1 on 28 September 1916, in France, apparently he was not called up, but enlisted, much to the dismay of his family!. They had four children that I know of: Robert CUTTS, Ernest CUTTS, Lily CUTTS and my direct ancestor James William Hunstone CUTTS born 30 August 1902, the address was 9 Court, 13 House, Duke Street, Sheffield. James William Hunstone CUTTS was in the Territorial army (Engineers) for 14 years before being called up in 1939 to the 49th (West Riding) MVNL R.E (T.A), where he was wounded in the field and being sent back to England to Butley Park War Hospital, in Chertsey, Surrey, where to his great joy and pride he was visited by the then Queen (now Queen Mother). This was reported, I think in the Sheffield Star. He married Clara BARTON on 21 August 1922, at St Pauls, Norton Lees, they had two children, Joyce CUTTS born 23 January 1925 and Mary CUTTS, born 4 October 1928, The address was 7/3 Little London Road, Sheffield. Mary CUTTS married Douglas HOLMES 3 August 1946 at St Pauls, Norton Lees. Mary CUTTS and Douglas HOLMES had one child Douglas James Frederick Holmes (Douglas after his father, James after Mary's father and Frederick after Douglas' father!) on 21 March 1948, he married Ann HILL on 31 May 1969, they had two children, one of whom was me!!
