He became partner in the business until 1813 when he moved to Staffordshire. He established a business in Lane End (Longton) and decorated some of Josiah Wedgwood II's teawares. By 1834 his firm was trading as Cutts & Sons, enamellers and gilders, of New Street Hanley. By 1842 the firm, described as manufacturers of pottery figures, was employing 50 workpeople John Cutts married a sister (Elon) of Edward Rowland (Rolland), the Derby painter. She died in 1837 and JC's sons pre-deceased him. (I believe they were James and John). He died in 1851. Cutts Street, Snow Hill, Shelton is probably named after his son James." Brian Berrington
