    1. [CUTTS] List Subscription Rules
    2. Lesley Bayston
    3. A quick reminder to anyone wanting to unsubscribe, or for anyone you know who might want to subscribe. Also how to reply to forwarded Board messages. 1. How to reply to a Board message. When a Board message appears on the List it is usually because I have forwarded it, so my name will appear in the From. However in the body of the message it will say "Original Message" and the "From" there is the person who originated the message and to whom the reply should be sent. Please do not just click on Reply as the message will then come to me. In points 2 and 3 below, for digest mode replace the -L with -D . 2. How to unsubscribe. Send a message to [email protected] that contains (in the body of the message) just the command unsubscribe 3. How to subscribe. For future reference (for instance, if your subscription is cancelled for whatever reason and you want to resubscribe), just send the command subscribe to [email protected] Another thing to remember... If you change email address you need to unsubscribe with your old address and resubscribe with your new one. 4. If you'd like to post a message so everyone on the mailing list receives it, just send it to [email protected] It will then be sent on to everyone in both mail and digest mode. You don't need to send it explicitly to both 5. How to change to digest mode (several postings are combined and sent to you together as a single large message). There are two steps. First, send the command "unsubscribe" to [email protected] to discontinue mail mode. Second, send the command "subscribe" to [email protected] to start receiving digests. 6. How to change to NOMAIL mode. There is no formal NOMAIL mode. All you have to do is follow the directions above and unsubscribe when you want the messages to stop, and then when you want them to start again, simply subscribe again. .

    1. [CUTTS] Visit to John King Museum Pinxton
    2. John
    3. If anyone who is coming to the Cutts Get together on the 22nd September is in the area on the Saturday before and would like to look around the John King Museum at Pinxton just down the road close to the M1 motorway then please reply to myself or Lesley Bayston as if there are enough interested it can be arranged for the Museum to be opened on the Saturday. This Museum is very interesting and has many records of Cutts families and activities, this is in addition to the fact that the contents are very much worth spending some time looking over. John Frawley.

    1. [CUTTS] Cutts and Bullocks relationships
    2. Mavis Johnson
    3. Hi, If anyone has Cutts with Bullock connections ( please excuse the unintended pun), I would be pleased to hear. I am trying to work out the relationship of a photographer W. Bullock, 71 Bridge St., Walsall, Staffs. to the Cutts lace family in Nottingham. He took a photograph in the grounds of Malvern House - Probable date 1884-91.. Copy of the photo can be seen at the Cutts Get-Together (I have no scanner) and was sent in April to Notts. FHS for them to publish - still waiting......!! Extracted so far: 1824 Hannah Bullock m. 1. [CUTTS] CUTTS GET-TOGETHER
    2. Mavis Johnson
    3. Date: Sunday, 22nd September, 2002 Time: 10.30 a.m.- 4.30 p.m. Venue: The Peacock Inn, Four Lane Ends, Oakerthorpe, South Wingfield, Derbyshire. Plenty of Parking! If Main door closed, access by outside steps from car park, but Take Care.... Upper Function Room. - Refreshments available Bars Downstairs - Meals available. This is an old coaching inn which no doubt some of our ancestors would have known and used as it was the main coaching run from Derby to Sheffield. No doubt horses were changed over at this point ready for the hills ahead. A warning to all those who imbibe too enthusiastically, or dally too long, is seen through a glass panel in the floor of the main bar!! Look out for it as you arrive..... (For those of you who do not know the area, it is situated by the traffic lights at the crossroads of the main road (A615 in my old atlas) from M1-J28 via Alfreton following Matlock signs , and the road from Chesterfield to Pentrichlane End - between Ripley and Ambergate on the Ripley-Ambergate Road (The Excavator Pub at this junction). Map ref SK3955.) The aim of the get-together is for anyone researching CUTTS to meet and exchange information and have a pleasant day. Please come along whether you feel you know everything, or nothing, about your own particular Cutts family...Bring any charts/family trees/photos, lists from family bibles, 'brick walls', letters, etc.. etc. We want to make the day as interesting as possible for everyone. Also there are many places of interest in the area for those who want to make a weekend of it with their families. Matlock Illuminations take place that weekend so a chance to kill two birds with one stone! The new Derwent Valley Heritage Site is centred around the old Cotton Mills at Belper, Cromford and Matlock Bath and you can learn more about the Industrial Revolution and the way it affected our forefathers here than in many libraries......and it is ' Reality'. A good way to re-learn the history we did not pay attention to at school, and to enthuse your children into not doing the same.....(We know that a Henry Cutts was in charge of Cromford Canal Wharf in 1811 and need to know more......) John Frawley is working hard on the last minute arrangements and agenda for the day, Lesley Bayston, our List leader, has been gathering in as many non-listers as she knows who may wish to join us, Jim Cutts has promised to bring his chart showing all who descend from Ralph Cutts and Elizabeth Amrie who married in 1630 (probably most of us in the East Midlands!) as well as all his GRO refs, and as many other records as his car boot will hold, Tony Cutt will be talking about DNA and Fingerprinting for future researchers, I will bring a few of my many files showing the family groupings I am trying to build, (too many to bring all) and I am adding my 'twopenn'orth' by trying to enthuse as many of you as can make it to come along and make our first Get Together a success. Summer has drawn us all away from our computers and charts and we are all promising ourselves that we WILL spend more time on it this Winter (I have not even managed to find time to extract my 1901 census yet) I will be travelling up to the area for a family event towards the end of next week, but will be staying locally over the Saturday/Sunday evenings and maybe spend some time in the Matlock Record Office or Local Studies before returning to Nottingham on the Monday or Tuesday evening. Anyone else staying in the area overnight, please let me know and I would love to meet you and have a meal/chat/stroll among the lights/whatever. Watch the List for more details. Hope to see many of you next week (with apologies to those overseas who cannot - but we may find out more about your relatives' families in the process). Bye for now, Mavis Johnson, researching all Cutts in E. Midlands and beyond...

    3. ----- Original Message ----- From: Mavis Johnson Subject: Condolances to Sarah Line Dear All, I was devastated when I opened my e-mails this morning to find the following note to just a few friends: "Hi Everyone Just a quick line to tell you I lost John my Husband yesterday 11th September 2002 age 37. I shall get back to you all when I'm feeling a bit stronger. Sorry for such a brief note.. Sarah" That such a tragedy should occur on the anniversary of the dreaded 9/11 makes it even more poignant. In the meantime, I am sure you will all wish to remember her in your prayers, and hold back any Cutts e-mails until a later date. Mavis.

    1. [CUTTS] Cutts get together
    2. John
    3. Her are a few more details concerning the Get together. The function room at The Peacock Hotel that we are meeting in is on a upstairs floor and access is via three short flights of stairs directly from the side of the Hotel and on the right as you come into the car park from the main road, these stairs are steep and the two flights within the building are carpeted so no danger of slipping, however anyone with disabilities of mobility problems could find them difficult but once negotiated up there a toilet is available so removing the need for further ups and downs until one is leaving, there is a way to just cut out the first flight by entering the Hotel Main Building and use with permission a door onto the top of the first flight and I am sure that this way would be available by those in difficulties on request. There will be available all day a Coffee machine in the meeting room and biscuits, sandwiches and /or other meals are also available on request to the Hotel staff, no accommodation is available at the Hotel however should anyone need this Bed and Breakfast is available at a nearby farm and other places can be located if so required, anyone wanting this service please let me know now so that I may provide details. 3. THIS MESSAGE DOES NOT CONTAIN AN ATTACHMENT Hi Lesley, There is no marriage on AVR or the Victorian Index for Lionel and Susan. They may never have married, the marriage may not have been registered or may have married prior to arrival in Australia. It is also possable they thought they were married, apparently there were a lot of supposed ministers travelling around marrying people and they were not ministers at all. It would appear that possably Joseph born/christened 1853 may have died young; hence the naming of Joseph born 1866 who died in 1868. The family obviously moved to NSW at some time after the birth of their unnamed daughter in 1877; living, at least for a time in the COOMA area. The two NSW death entries in NSW in 1907 appear to possably be your Lionel and Susan CUTTS nee KELLY. 1. [CUTTS] CUTTS Get together update
    2. John
    3. Hi everyone, The latest news concerning the get together, the times have now been settled as follows, start at 10-30 am and planned finish time is 4-30 pm or earlier if needed due to attendance falling earlier. A programme has yet to be worked out but it is hoped to engage a speaker if one can be located at reasonable cost, we have offers of some list members talking for short spells and also would like anyone who can bring along any items of interest that they may have especially the following, copies of wills, newspaper clippings of Cutts involvement in whatever, death announcements, weddings, overseas movements and/or written reports back to relatives, photographs of Cutts ancestors or there place of work, shops, houses, war medals and any history attached to these, the list is almost endless just dig deep and bring them along. The main purpose of this get together is to let everyone get to know the list members personally instead of just E-Mail names that send to list, also we hope that others will attend that at present are unknown but hear about the get together and are interested enough to come along, who knows what they might have to share with others and share what others have for them, it is your meeting so make the effort to seek out those Cutts present or with past connections and encourage them to come along. Any suggestions for inclusion in the programme or days events will be most welcome. Lets make it a great day for research. John Frawley Derby. By the way if anyone has to bring children along with them there are play facilities at the Hotel outside also plenty of places close by, details can be provided

If any other attendees are also likely to be spending Saturday evening and staying overnight in the area and would like to meet for a meal I would be interested to discuss this if they will contact me direct. I have not yet firmed up on accommodation for Saturday night - let me know where you hope to be staying. Regards, Mavis, in Somerset.
