I just came across your enquiry on Roots Web from a few years ago:- "I am searching for Archibald Milloy reported born c. 1810 in Ballochnites. Also for b. information on Mary Blue, reported born c. 1813 poss. in Campbeltown. They married on 13 December 1827 in Campbeltown and had the following children: - Marion c. 30 November 1828. Malcolm c. 11 November 1830. Duncan c. 16 February 1833. Neill c. 4 September 1835. Agnes c. 4 September 1835. Mary c. 6 January 1839. Archibald c. 4 April 1841. Andrew c. 26 November 1843. Andrew c. 12 January 1844. All births took place in Campbeltown and Mary married William McGallan on 24 August 1860 in West Parish, Greenock, and in the 1881 census were living at 3, Argyle Street, Greenock. Agnes married John MacMillan on 16 August 1861 in Middle or New Parish, Greenock and in the 1881 census were living at 21, Kempock Street, Inverkip. John was stated to be a pensioner in H.M.I. Can anyone say what H.M.I. stands for? Also living with them was Archibald now a widower who is listed as a former Distillery Worker." I am also tracing this line (these are ancestors of my partner Sue Bullock). I have Archibald's wife as Flora Blue though - the IGI lists all the children as having Archibald and Flora as parents. I have a reasonable amount of information on the Milloys and their family. A sumary pdf is attached. I think HMI usually refers to "His Majesty's Inspectorate of Schools" I wondered whether you have obtained information in the interim, that we could compare/exchange? Kind Regards Steve Reed Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
