Hello Listers, This posting is to correct the title of my earlier posting, from “James Cuthbertson and Helen Riddell (Ellen Riddle) married 1817 at Glassford, Scotland” to “Robert Cuthbertson and Helen Riddell married 1817 at Glassford/East Kilbride, Scotland”. Thanks to Ken Cuthbertson of New Mexico, U.S.A, from whom, in a few short hours, I have received an enormous amount of information, I am now completely sure that Helen Riddell’s husband was named Robert and not James Cuthbertson. I will now 1) correct a history of my twig made some 25 years ago. 2) make a posting to a local (Goldfields, Victoria, Australia) Mailing List to see if anyone can find records for Robert’s son, James, who arrived at Geelong, Port Phillip, Victoria, Australia on the Storm Cloud in December 1854, aged 37, with his sister Janet, aged 21-23, my great great grandmother. They became separated, allegedly never to make contact again. 3) try to track down the Cuthbertsons who DID die at Thornibank/Thornliebank, Scotland on 3 September, 1850, and at Pollockshaws, Scotland on 7 January,1852. Given that both Robert and Helen were alive at census date in 1851, at least one of the dates can't apply to them!
