Recently it has come to my attention that in a list published of the Descendants of John CUTHBERTSON, it shows that he is the father of Janet CUTHBERTSON who is married to James STRACHAN. The relationship of Janet to John CUTHBERTSON has never been proven nor has any connection between the two ever been made. Janet is proven to be married to James STRACHAN but their last four children listed in this descendant list are not correct. The mother of those children are Janet SCOTT, not Janet STRACHAN. Janet CUTHBERTSON was still married to James STRACHAN until she died many years later. All info. proved by records at GRO. Peter STRACHAN b. 6 Dec 1854, Bonhill, parents: James Donald STRACHAN and Janet SCOTT, George Scott STRACHAN, b. 14 Mar 1858, Bonhill, Alexandria, parents: James STRACHAN and Janet SCOTT, Magdalene STRACHAN, b. 2 Jan 1865, Bonhill, parents: James STRACHAN and Janet SCOTT Janet Nielson STRACHAN, b. 13 May 1869,Bonhill, parents: James STRACHAN and Janet SCOTT. FHL Film #6035516. There are no records that prove that Mary STRACHAN, dau. of James and Janet STRACHAN was ever married to James MEIKLEHAM. They did not ever live in the Parish and no records of Mary existed except for two census when she was 4 and 14. Mary dau. of James STRACHAN and Janet CUTHBERTSON died unmarried.
