    3. Hi Janet, Thanks for your response. I'll keep your email in my files in case I run across a connection in the future. John was married in Ardrossan in 1811 but I do not know if this was his home or just the home of Anne GRAHAM, his wife. There are many Cuthbertson's in that area of Scotland. I haven't gotten back to John's parents yet so do not know for certain the names of his siblings. Janet The names of Hugh's children are all names of John and Anne's children which could be a clue that they are related. In a message dated 10/22/2010 2:37:01 A.M. The earliest one I have found is Hugh Cuthbertson (born perhaps about 1792 in Ayrshire, Scotland. He married Mary McCANDLISH (dtr. of Thomas McCandlish of Scotland and Jean (maybe KIRK) of Scotland. Hugh married Mary before 1822 and I'm guessing the marriage took place in Ayrshire or in Twynholm, Kirkcudbright, Scotland. Hugh must have died in Scotland because his wife (b. 5 Mar 1803 in Scotland) and family sailed to Boston, Massacusetts, USA about 1848. Hugh probably died between 1840 and 1848. I don't know if he is listed in the 1841 Scotland census or not. He was likely Presbyterian. The children of Hugh Cuthbertson and Mary McCandlish were as follows: 1. Thomas Cuthbertson (b. 12 Jan 1822 in Klymorme(?) Ayrshire. He immigrated in 1844, arriving in Boston before his siblings & mom. 2. Margaret Cuthbertson (b. about 1831/1832 in Scotland. 3. James E. Cuthbertson (b. 8 Aug 1841 in Scotland (or may abt. 1837). 4. Ann Cuthbertson (b. about 1836 and immigrated in 1848 with her mom. 5. Andrew Cuthbertson (b. about 1842 and immigrated in 1848 on Ship Tamberland/Tamerlane with his mom). I have records on three of these children (Thomas, Margaret, and James). Their descendants ended up in the states of Michigan, Colorado, Wyoming, & Oregon. I have recently done some research on the McCandlish names here in the USA. Do any of the above look vaguely familiar to you? Would like to exchange information with anyone working on any of the Cuthbertsons. Janet
