I am trying to establish a paper trail via censuses, marriage, and CW records for Isaac HENDRICKS b. 7 Aug.1840, in Hendricks Co., IN. According to his CW file he lived in several areas of Marion Co IN which confirmed that the Isaac I was looking at on the various censuses were indeed the correct person. He is shown twice on the 1870 census, once living with wife Drusilla and son, Francis, but with Thomas SHAUGHNESSY as H/H who mar. Elizabeth REMINGTON, 7 Sep. 1868, in Marion Co IN. Listed also is a John HOUR/HOWE? Elsewhere, on the same census Isaac HENDRICKS, "Dewsilla" and Francis age 2, are living with Wm. CLUCK age 46, b. in England, and Mintia F, b. in TN. Nothing matches exactly. Ages are a bit different, places of birth for Isaac are Ohio and Indiana - Isaac listed as carpenter on one and laborer on another, etc. The 1860 census of Marion Co IN lists Isaac HENDRIX age 19, living with H/H Jane CUTBER/CUTBIRTH? age 50 and Jerry S. DeWITT age 35 (idiotic). An Isaac HENDRICKS mar. Jane DeWETT 1 Feb. 1844 in Hendricks Co. IN. Could Jane be stepmother to young Isaac? On the 1910 census of Marion Co IN is a male with that name, age 52, living with H/H Eliza FAIR/FARR age 70 b. WVA, mother b. WVA, and son, William ROSS/ROW?, age 55. On Isaac's death certf. the information is given by Francis M. HENDRICKS. The informant (who I presume is Isaac's son), did not know the names of the parents' of Isaac. However, I am wondering whether this Isaac is the one I have been trailing from the time I saw a male by that name on the Hancock Co IN census of 1850 living with old Isaac HENDRIX, age 79, b. in NC. On that same census is Frederick HENDRIX b. KY, living next door with 1st wife Aphrey OWINGS, b. NC. Second wife of Frederick was Mary Jane Kennedy UNDERWOOD -- my g-grandparents. The section that abuts my g-grandmother's KENNEDY family was sold to George W. WILLITT, by Isaac HENDRIX and "Lydia", his wife on 9 Nov. 1837. Both signed with a mark. This is the same land that was purchased months earlier, by Isaac HENDRIX, from Wayne Co IN. That same year an Isaac HENDRIX mar. Lydia BALDWIN, in Wayne Co IN.
