    3. Looks like the big A.com is phasing out the email lists for both places and surnames to move everything to message boards as of March 2nd. Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. 1. Isaac HENDRICKS, b.1840, d.1908, Indiana
    2. . Jane CUTBIRTH and Green DeWITT were mar. in Morgan Co IN, 12 Mar. 1830 Francis HENDRICKS is shown on Marion Co 1920 census living with Eliza FAIR/FARR and son, Wm. ROSS. There were FAIR families in Morgan Co IN. Melinda Hendricks GARRETT mar. Wm. FAIR, after the death of her husband. She was a sister of Thompson HENDRICKS. Francis age 52 is very likely the son of CW soldier Isaac HENDRICKS. Isaac was b 7 Aug. 1840, in Hendricks Co IN, and d 8 Mar 1908, in Marion Co IN. He had been living in the Soldiers and Sailors Home. According to his CW file, he lived in many different places in Marion Co IN, and also Boone Co IN, after serving in the war. The "old Isaac HENDRICKS" I had mentioned who lived in Hancock Co IN was b. in NC and was listed as age 79 on the Hanc 1850 census. He was living in Wayne Co IN when he purchased his land. An Isaac Hendricks mar. Lydia *JONES*, in Wayne Co IN, 18 July, 1837. An Isaac HENDRICKS and wife, Lydia, sold this same land 9 Nov 1837 to Geo. WILLITT. Both signed with a mark -- I have the indenture. An Isaac HENDRICKS mar Jane DeWETT(DeWITT?) 1 Feb 1844, in Hendricks Co IN. The Hancock Co 1850 census lists an Isaac HENDRIX age 79, and Jane age 47 b. KY, along with Jeremiah WALKER who mar. Jane BRADT and James SKIMERHORN age 17. There were SCHEMEHORNS in Hendricks Co IN (shown on 1850 census). When CW soldier Isaac HENDRICKS gave testimony related to receiving a pension he mentioned Robert DAY. On the 1900 census Robert DAY and Isaac are shown as partners in ditching or well digging. Hope this is not as skewed as former emails...have had to make many corrections. Virgene

    3. Hi Virgene, I said after I went to Ft Wayne in May I would get back to you on the Cutbirth/Hendricks if found anything and really don't think found anything more then you have allready found. I thought may have found our Jane Cutbirth/DeWitt/Hendricks but turned out I think to be a different Jane Hendricks. Now we have two of them to sift thru. 1840 Owen Co. IN pg 141 li 7 was old Isaac Hendrix 1840 Perry Co. IN pg 414 line 5 listed Jane DeWitt age 50/60 with looks like 3 males 1-to 5 and 1 -15/20 and 1 -20/30. (these are the catagories that look like they are in, is that what you have?) 1850 Hancock Co. IN pg 254 (& 507) Buck Creek Twp one Isaac Hendrix 79 NC, Jane 47 KY, Jeremiah Walker 27 In, James Skimerhorn 17 In, Isaac Hendrix 10 IN/ (next door was a John Underwood 45 Ky and rest of family on next page which I didn't check). 1860 forgot to check since you had that I should have gotten a copy but didn't. Index of In was one Jane Hendricks Clinton Co. IN pg 345 Kirklin Twp (age 3/12ths) also one Isaac A. Hendricks Fountain Co. Tray Twp pg 565 (didn't check or if did forgot to write age) 1870 Isaac Hendricks Marion Co. 6 Ward, Indianapolis pg 332 (roll 341) Isaac age 29 with Drewsilla 28, Francis M. 2 in home of William Clack/Cluck? I don't know why he would have been listed twice as only found him once in the IN index book. One Jane Hendricks age 74 in Marion Co. IN 3rd ward, Indianapolis pg 144 which I thought maybe our Jane in the household of W.S. Peirce 48 and wife Ann H. Also one Jane DeWitt 9th ward Marion Co. In roll 339 pg 617 but she was too young for ours and no Jerry DeWitt. Come to find out there was a will listed for Jane T. Hendricks in 1874 Marion Co. IN Bk E pg 181 #125980 Shelby Co. In which listed her sons: Abram T., Thomas A., John & James and daughter: Ann Peirce (which is whom she was living in 1870 Marion Co. IN). This will abstract was from the book "Indiana Wills Index Thru 1880" Ft Wayne, IN libr #977.2 IN 88 H-J. From this same book was one Isaac Hendrix Huntington Co. In 1880 Bk C pg 88 #0098923 Which didn't check that county for books. Also "Will Record Bk "E" 1872-1876 Marion Co. IN" by DAR 977.201 M33dac Bk E 1872-1876 had same listing Jane T. Hendricks Shelby Co. IN d. 1874. "Marion Co. IN Complete Probate Rec 1830-1852" No Isaac or Jane Hendricks No DeWitt "Index to Death Rec" Marion Co. IN 1902-1920 V2-A2 977.201 M33und V2 1902-1920 No Isaac or Jane Hendricks "Index to Marriage Records, Hendricks Co. IN 1823-1920 Vol 1 A-L" pg 235 Isaac Hendricks to Jane DeWett 1 Feb 1844 Bk 2 pg 220 "Grantor, Hendricks Co. IN" 1826-1853 977.201 H38cs "Grantee, Hendricks Co. IN" 1826-1953 " No Isaac Hendricks and No Green, Jane DeWitt "Hendricks Co., Cem Records V1-3 977.201 H 38ce No Hendricks, DeWitt " V4 - union Twp, Groover cem, several Hendricks, no Isaac " V5-6-7-8-9-10-11 No Isaac Hendricks. No DeWitt family books One Hendricks family book but no DeWitt or Isaac listed. So as you can see I didn't fare any better at the library they you have done Other then to know the Jane Hendricks in 1870 was not our Jane and did locate their marriage record in Hendricks Co. IN. So where do we go from here? You apparently have old Isaac Hendricks Civil War record and that would tell you about him but the books at the Ft Wayne library were very limited on these counties and time periods I needed. I feel like you are on the right track as a lot of things do fit just don't know if there will ever be any actual proof that will actually spell out all the relationships If I find anything more will keep you informed as hope you would to me. Maybe we just aren't looking in the right place's yet but does look like they may have been in Marion Co. last. 1. Re: [HENDRICKS-L] Isaac HENDRICKS mar. Drusilla HOUR 17 Apr. 1864
    2. I am trying to establish a paper trail via censuses, marriage, and CW records for Isaac HENDRICKS b. 7 Aug.1840, in Hendricks Co., IN. According to his CW file he lived in several areas of Marion Co IN which confirmed that the Isaac I was looking at on the various censuses were indeed the correct person. He is shown twice on the 1870 census, once living with wife Drusilla and son, Francis, but with Thomas SHAUGHNESSY as H/H who mar. Elizabeth REMINGTON, 7 Sep. 1868, in Marion Co IN. Listed also is a John HOUR/HOWE? Elsewhere, on the same census Isaac HENDRICKS, "Dewsilla" and Francis age 2, are living with Wm. CLUCK age 46, b. in England, and Mintia F, b. in TN. Nothing matches exactly. Ages are a bit different, places of birth for Isaac are Ohio and Indiana - Isaac listed as carpenter on one and laborer on another, etc. The 1860 census of Marion Co IN lists Isaac HENDRIX age 19, living with H/H Jane CUTBER/CUTBIRTH? age 50 and Jerry S. DeWITT age 35 (idiotic). An Isaac HENDRICKS mar. Jane DeWETT 1 Feb. 1844 in Hendricks Co. IN. Could Jane be stepmother to young Isaac? On the 1910 census of Marion Co IN is a male with that name, age 52, living with H/H Eliza FAIR/FARR age 70 b. WVA, mother b. WVA, and son, William ROSS/ROW?, age 55. On Isaac's death certf. the information is given by Francis M. HENDRICKS. The informant (who I presume is Isaac's son), did not know the names of the parents' of Isaac. However, I am wondering whether this Isaac is the one I have been trailing from the time I saw a male by that name on the Hancock Co IN census of 1850 living with old Isaac HENDRIX, age 79, b. in NC. On that same census is Frederick HENDRIX b. KY, living next door with 1st wife Aphrey OWINGS, b. NC. Second wife of Frederick was Mary Jane Kennedy UNDERWOOD -- my g-grandparents. The section that abuts my g-grandmother's KENNEDY family was sold to George W. WILLITT, by Isaac HENDRIX and "Lydia", his wife on 9 Nov. 1837. Both signed with a mark. This is the same land that was purchased months earlier, by Isaac HENDRIX, from Wayne Co IN. That same year an Isaac HENDRIX mar. Lydia BALDWIN, in Wayne Co IN. Sorry this is so long, but there may be something that may be of interest to persons researching HENDRICKS, HENDRIX, CUTBIRTH, FAIR, FARR, REMINGTON (on 1880 census with Isaac and family which has incorrect age for Isaac), SHAUGHNESSY, HOUR, OWINGS, WILLITT, ROSS, DeWITT, BALDWIN, KENNEDY, UNDERWOOD, WILLITT I welcome corrections, continuing information, etc. Virgene Scolnik

    3. Hi Virgene, Just trying to figure all this info out on Jane Cutbirth, some fits and some is a little strange but still could be. 1809/10 Jane Cutbirth born Knox Co. KY to Benjamin and Salina Callaway Cutbirth Jr. 1810 census Knox Co. Ky a female age to 10 in home of Benjamin Cutbirth (could be Jane) 1820 census Delaware Co. IN a female age 16/26 in home of Benjamin Cutbirth (could be Jane) 12 Feb 1830 Morgan Co. IN Jane Cutbirth married Green DeWitt 1830 census should be with Green DeWitt (not located) 1840 census could be with Green DeWitt or not (not located in IN or IA census Index) 1844 you say one Jane DeWett (could be DeWitt) married one Isaac Hendricks in Hendricks Co. IN 1850 Hancock Co. IN Jane age 47 (b. 1803) with Isaac Hendrix age 79 NC (b.1771) Jeremiah Walker age 27 (b. 1823), James Skimerhorn age 17 (b. 1833) and Isaac Hendrix age 10 (b. 1840. 1860 Marion Co. IN Jane Cutber age 50 with Jerry S? DeWitt aage 35 (b. 1825) and Isaac Hendrix age 19 (b. 1841) This could all work but would take some checking. Ages are a little off maybe but with census that can happen but change of names is something to think about too. But just thought would put together what was coming up and see where it leads us. 3. I think you may be a life saver, I have been looking for Green DeWitt and Jane Cutbirth for a long long time and know they married in Morgan Co. IN 12 Feb 1830 and she was born ca 1809 believe Knox Co. KY and was dau of Benjamin Cutbirth Jr and Salina Callaway. 1810 Ben. Jr had a female that would be the right age for Jane but had not located her and Green in 1820-30-40-50 IN index and even checked 1840-50 index for Iowa and this maybe the reason I couldn't find her as she probably did remarry after Green DeWitt died and hadn't been able to locate that info. Had checked Morgan Co. In for land records of Green DeWitt and there were none. I descend from Benjamin Jr and Salina Callaway's daughter Rebecca Cutbirth who md Levi Munden 1824 in Morgan Co. IN. Have been working on this family for 35 years. Let me know what you need or want and I think maybe we can help each other. 1. Green DeWITT m. Jane CUTBIRTH, bef.1840 [HENDRIX/HENDRICKS in...
    2. Is anyone on this list familiar with either Green DeWITT or Jane CUTBIRTH. I found as head of household, Jane CUTBER age 50 on the 1860 census of Marion Co IN. Living with her is Jerry (S.?) DeWITT age 35, and Isaac HENDRIX age 19. An Isaac HENDRICKS mar. Jane DeWETT (DeWITT?), in 1844, in Hendricks Co IN. There is a Jane age 47 shown on the 1850 census of Hancock Co IN living with Isaac HENDRIX age 79 b. NC, along with Jeremiah WALKER age 27, James SKIMERHORN age 17, and Isaac HENDRIX age 10. Jeremiah WALKER is likely a carpenter whose home was in Jennings Co IN. He first mar. Jane BRADT, before 1850, and second Mrs. Lucretia McLAUGHLIN, after 1880. Jerermiah's dau., Mary, may have had a son, Charles HINCHMAN. I do not know the name of Mary's husband, if she had one. The fact that there is a 31 years age difference between old Isaac HENDRIX and Jane, if they are husband and wife, and *if* this is my ancestor, is not extraordinary as this happened frequently between my male and female ancestors. 3. Nate, I've plenty of info on Stone/Taney/Christian Co Cutbirths to share, and yes, they come from Ben Cutbirth/Elizabeth Wilcockson, but I no longer share in gedcoms, from past bad experiences of people abusing them, taking for granted that the info is correct (I've made my mistakes) and sharing with someone else, and it keeps snowballing. People posting the file on "free" websites, and when I do a web search, all I get back is my previous work. I'm willing to share, but not with a gedcom file. 2. Jim
    3. FYI... Emily and brother Daniel Cutbirth (married to Hannah Overstreet) are of Ben Sr lines. What I have, is Emily's second husband was Cerenus "Enos" Warren, and her first was Andrew Sink. Children with Enos was, Margaret Ann, Riley, John, Jess and Henry Warren. Ken, below, is trying to make the connection between Hannah (Overstreet) Cutbirth and his George Overstreet. -------Original Message------- From: Ken Martin Date: Tuesday, October 28, 2003 9:43:57 AM To: Jim Subject: Re: Hanna Overstreet Hi Jim, OK here goes: (This is very indirect!) My wife's uncle Troy Ambrose married Errie Warren. Her grandfather Reynes Warren married Emly Cutburth. Also, my wife's great-great grandfather George Washington Overstreet had 3 wives. His 3rd wife's name was Mary Ellen Yates. She was married twice. Her 1st husband was John Smith Hammer. They had a child Nancy who married a guy named William Cutberth. So far, I can't figure out if Hanna is related to our Overstreets. But I'll keep your information and let you know if I ever find a connection. Thanks for your help, Ken Martin

    3. Hi Beverly and listers, Yes, I connect right into your son-in-law's line. My 5th GG was Daniel Boone Cutbirth's sister Mary CUTBIRTH, daughter of Benjamin CUTBIRTH and Elizabeth WILLCOCKSON. Mary married Elijah CALLOWAY (more about him below). Elizabeth was a daughter of John WILLCOCKSON and Sarah BOONE, Daniel's oldest sister. Mary's and Daniel Boone Cutbirth's father Benjamin CUTBIRTH, a close friend and fellow long-hunter of Daniel BOONE, was the first pioneer to reach the Mississippi River from the East. The book King's Mountain and Its Heroes documents the feisty resistance of Charlotte's mother Mary Cutbirth, then a young girl, and of the whole Cutbirth family when British officers abusively invaded their home <http://stipak.com/willcockson/elijah/bios/1.htm#P3910AK> during the War of the Revolution. I have posted a long excerpt from that book on my family website here: http://stipak.com/willcockson/elijah/bios/1.htm#P3910AK Don't stop reading until you get to the CUTBIRTH part!! Mary CUTBIRTH named one of her son's Benjamin Cleveland CALLOWAY after the Colonel Cleveland in this historical story. [Note: There exists some confusion among family researchers about whether this son Benjamin's middle name was "Cleveland" or "Cutbirth" (after his grandfather Benjamin CUTBIRTH). Wulfeck cites the bible of his father Elijah CALLOWAY giving his name as "Benjamin Cleveland Calloway," a strong argument for that middle name.] My cousins and I have been gradually posting the important book "Wilcoxson and Allied Families (Willcockson, Wilcoxen, Wilcox)," by Dorothy Ford Wulfeck on my family website at: Wilcoxson Book home page: http://stipak.com/willcockson/WulfeckBook/WulfeckBook.htm So far the book has been posted from the title page through page 44, PLUS I have just posted all of the scanned PHOTOS and other illustrations from the whole book. My 4GG Mary CUTBIRTH married Hon. Elijah CALLOWAY, who served in the North Carolina General Assembly 1813-1824, first as Ashe County representative and then as state senator. Their daughter Charlotte CALLOWAY married her first cousin once removed Elijah WILLCOCKSON/Willcoxen; I have built a growing website for them at: http://stipak.com/willcockson/elijah/ElijahWillcockson.htm One interesting old photo that you all might want to see is of Mary CUTBIRTH's grandson Major Elijah Calloway WILLCOXEN and his wife Prudence (nee PUTMAN) WILLCOXEN, posted at: http://stipak.com/willcockson/elijah/bios/8.htm If anyone has other photos and/or bios, obits, stories, etc. regarding any of these lines, please share! I am posting as much as I can on my ad-free website to help all members of our extended CUTBIRTH / WILLCOCKSON / CALLOWAY families. If I get enough help from some of you I will start a website dedicated to the descendants of Benjamin CUTBIRTH and Elizabeth WILLCOCKSON, too! Each year we learn more about these wonderful families of ours, see more pictures, hear more stories, and better understand how they lived and how, through their grace, we came to be. Let's keep our motivation high as we work to bring the memories and long-lost cousins together again!
