Janice, Frederick's parents were John and Elizabeth (Lord) Curtiss. My records show John's death date as 22 June 1774 in Canterbury, Connecticut. There were several John Curtis(s)'s in that area and that time period. Your death date could possibly be for one of the others. John and Elizabeth had as children; 1)Israel, 2)Sarah, 3)John Jr., 4)Frederick and 5)Elizabeth Lord Curtiss. I have children for Frederick and Luranah as; 1)Isaac, 2)Luranah, 3)Hannah, 4)Filura and 5)Josiah. Rev. John Curtiss (Frederick's father) added the second "s" to the last name as those previous to him all spelled their last name with one "s". I have copies of land records from Connecticut that show the addition of the second "s". Not sure why this happened. Others from this line dropped the second "s" in later generations. My line continued with the second "s". I have nothing on Filura's (Philura) family other than her name and her birthdate of 17 July 1769 in Canterbury, Connecticut.
