Gertrude CURTIS, 3 years old, the daughter of J. C. CURTIS of 1223 Broadway, resolved yesterday morning to go exploring. Unaided she crossed four street car tracks and threaded her way through the traffic along West Twelfth street. At Baltimore avenue she turned and started back toward home. Patrolman Claude BROWN stopped her at Twelfth and Central streets and extracted the information that she lived near Thirteenth street. On a venture he picked her up and started carrying her in that direction. The mother met him at Broadway. "I left her with another woman," she explained, "and only missed her a few minutes ago. Just to think of her going clear down town! She might have been killed!
