    1. [CURTIS] Re: Curtis Family (Joel Warner, Zenas)

    3. >From the 1820 census index: CURTIS ZENAS OH TRUMBULL FARMINGTON 1820 Given the location and name, this man could be a possible older relative, possibly Joel's father, grandfather or uncle? He was the only Zenas Curtis listed in the US census that year, and he was on the same page, all adjacent, as Ezra, Shelden and Ransley Curtis. A few names away, also on same page, is a David Curtis. Seem to be worth checking, if you haven't already. Of course, this could be a different family altogether - Zenas was not as uncommon a name in those days as it is today <smile>. ============================================== History of Trumbull and Mahoning Counties with Illustrations and Biographical sketches. Cleveland: H.Z. Williams & Bro., 1882 It says that David Curtis, son of lawyer Curtis, was one of the first two arrivals in the twp. of Farmington in 1806 (was actually called Henshaw until it was organized in 1817), coming from Vienna Twp. In the summer of 1806 David or lawyer Curtis and Zenas Curtis, with a man named Elihu Moses, brought their families. David built on the old Ransley Curtis farm and Zenas on the Fuller farm on the State road. Ezra Curtis and Zenas were both elected to twp. offices in its first election in 1817.
