Hi, I am trying to track the brother, Jonathan, of Rev. Thomas Curtis of NJ. My ancestor is David Curtis b.1763. He is related to the Rev. but not one of his sons. My David lived in Baptisttown and is buried in the Baptist Church graveyard along with Thomas and the family. Because I have sought David through all of the Burlington lines and found nothing, I believe he is a nephew of the Rev. and perhaps the son of brother Jonathan. Do you have any records re:Jonathan b.1674? The Rev. Thomas was b.1684. I know that their father, Thomas b.1635 died in 1688 in Burlington. Jonathan may have moved "west" with other family members. If you have any information to share, I would be grateful. Thank you in advance. The Burlington/Monmouth Co. NJ CURTIS family came into America directly to Burlington WestJersey in the mid-1600s (Quakers)---by 1800, some were moving South & some Westward, or into the cities of NY & Philadelphia. Your Elijah Curtis, who married another NewEnglander, may have descended from the CURTIS brothers who came in through Boston in the 1600s. Have you checked the holdings at NewEnglandHistoric&Gen.Society? Being here in Boston, I wish I had more NewEngland lines which removed to NJ, since NEHGS is has such an excellent collection (also, on-line for members) for New England records.
