He was born in Peoria, Illinois and was a quality control inspector for General Dynamics. He served in the Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was a past district vice president of the Congress of California Seniors and past president of the International Association of Machinists Local Lodge 1125. Survivors include his wife Mary Curtis; daughter Joan Kirk of Osage (Iowa); son Paul Curtis of Edon, Ohio; stepdaughter Marlene Parsons of El Cajon (California); stepson John Machnov, Jr of Santee (California); sister Shirley Hawkins of Eugene, Oregon and four grandchildren. Services - 2 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, April 13, 2004), College Avenue Baptist Church, 4747 College Avenue, San Diego (California).
