Surnames: Curtiss, Holiday Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/TmQ.2ACIB/2324 Message Board Post: Norwalk Daily Reflector dated December 16, 1907 "Death of an Old Lady" Mrs Sarah Jennette Curtiss, widow of Eno Holiday, and a resident of Norwalk for a few years, died Wednesday morning at 4 o'clock, at her home, No 12 South Garden street, after a long illness, from old age and other infirmities. She was over eighty years of age at the time of her death, having been born at Gassport, N. Y., November 11, 1827. Her late husband, Eno Holiday, a well known Huron county farmer, died in Hartland November 27, 1894. Two sons and one daughter survive her; Frank E. Holiday, of Flint, Mich.; J. A. Holiday and Mrs S. J. Manahan of Norwalk; also one step-son, W. G. Holiday of this city, and one sister, Mrs. Edna Holmes of Gassport, N. Y. Deceased was a sister of the late George W. Curtiss, of this city, who died two years or more ago at his home on South Garden street. Mrs Holiday formerly lived in Hartland, Milan and New London. She was married to Mr. Holiday, November 23, 1850 and was a member of the Universalist church. The funeral will be held probably Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, from her late home. Rev. Mr. Minor officiating. Interment will take place in Hartland Ridge cemetery. **** And **** Norwalk Ohio, Daily Reflector, December 18, 1907 Obituary Sarah Jennette (Curtis) Holiday, daughter of Grove Church Curtis and Betsey (Cornish) Curtis, was born in Royalton, Niagara county, N. Y., September 11, 1827. She lived in Niagara county till October 30, 1849, when she started for Ohio, arriving in Ruggles, Ashland, county, November 4, 1849. She lived in Ruggles till November 11, 1850, when she moved to Hartland, Huron county, where, on November 23, 1850, she was married to Eno Holiday, of that place. To this union were born four sons and one daughter, as follows: Franklin E; Henry M; Jonathan A. and Sarah J. Holiday all of whom, except Henry M., who died in 1876, still survive. She was left a widow, Mr. Holiday having died in 1894. She still remained at the old home till 1899, when she removed with her son Jonathan A. and daughter, Mrs. S. J. (Holiday) Manahan, to New London, O., and in 1904 to Milan, O., and in April 1907, to No. 12 South Garden street, Norwalk, O., where she died December 18, 1907. The funeral will occur at the above place on Saturday, December 21, at 10 a. m. Interment will take place at the cemetery on Hartland Ridge. O. Mrs. Holiday leaves to mourn her loss, two sons, Franklin E., of 608 Eighth street, Flint, Mich., and Jonathan A. and Mrs. S. J. Manahan of 12 South Garden street, Norwalk; also one step son, William G. Holiday of 56 Woodlawn avenue,, Norwalk, and one sister, Mrs E. S. Holmes of Barker, Niagara county, N. Y. The deceased was a sister of the late George W. Curtis of 12 South Garden street, Norwalk. ****
