I can't find the 1850 census listing for his parents, but by 1860 the family was living in Salt Lake City, UT. Theodore Walter is not named but a son named John, 12y (the same age as Theodore), b. MO is listed. Two older brothers I've never heard of (Theodore was supposedly the only son according to many family histories) were also in the family according to the census, William, 15 and James, 14. They were both born in MO. Theodore Walter (TW) married Flora Lydia Shipp in Salt Lake City on Nov 20, 1871. They had a son named Theodore Edward Curtis on Sept 27, 1872. Apparently they were in the process of separation at this time and a 2nd son, Clarence Shipp Curtis was born July 22, 1876. TW may have already left his family by that time, moving to Boston, per an August 1915 clipping about TW in the Deseret News saying he left SLC "39 years ago and at present lives in Boston, Mass". I cannot find TW in any Boston censuses, yet the family received a letter from the Home for Aged Men in Boston in 1925 and TW's death certificate is also from Boston in 1930. TW was affiliated with the Unitarians in Boston and wrote for their paper, the Boston Index quite a bit in 1884 and 1885. It is said that he was part of the Free Religious Association which was a dissident group of Unitarians. I would like to find TW in the 1880-1920 censuses somehow (I've already found the wrong one, Theodore N. Curtis who is married to Agnes, living in Boston) and I also hoped to find out more about his activities in the Boston area, if any Curtis researchers have that information. Thanks, Susan
