Curtis (1/2 Cherokee?) b. 1870 Nashville, Washington Co., IL married Mrs. Polly Ann (Newton) Covington in 1893, Wister, LeFlore Co. OK. Polly was born in AR in 1875 (1/4 Seminole or Choctaw?). James Curtis is son of William Henry Curtis b. IL in 1839 and Nancy Reeves b. IA in 1843. 1900 I.T./Choctaw Nation census lists William H. living next to all of his sons, Marion, Anderson, William A. & James S.All descendents believe there to be Native American Connections to both sides of Curtis and Newton families.
