If she was Cherokee, she and her family are probably listed in the series of books "Cherokee by Blood". These are basically an index to the Dawes Rolls - govt. rolls which were set up to supposedly compensate Indians for their losses (land, removal, etc.) They contain a wealth of genealogical data, since each applicant had t "prove" their status as a "qualified" Indian. This index is also on the National Archives site at http://loc.gov/ Go to the site, click on Research Room, then Genealogy, then Research Topics, then Native American Records, and on the right of the screen, will be a list of choices. Scroll down to and click on Index to the Dawes Final Rolls, or words to that effect. This is just an index, though. You would have to go to a Nat'l Archives site that has the actual applications (on microfilm) or possibly order copies (I'm not sure, but I think Archives might do that, if you have all the info from the index. You can check with them or read more on their site to determine that.) If that doesn't work, check and see if your library has or can obtain the books mentioned through interlibrary loan. Or call or visit your nearest LDS (Mormon) Family History Center and ask for help. They have some wonderful volunteers - and might even have the books on microfilm. Good luck in your search. --- Ttcowboy8@aol.com wrote: > Yes, one is eva. her mother was due east > curtis, cherokee full blooded. I > think her cherokee name for due is > Choo-He-Sut-Tah.
