My Curtises lived in Iowa in the late 1890s, and in their past there was a Royal Joseph Curtis, b 1837 in Panora and he had a son named Royal Moseley Curtis b 1868 in Illinois. there was a more recent Royal Curtis, maybe one b in 1920s and he lived in the state of Washington the last I knew. If you think this is worth following up on, I could do that. I have just joined this list in hopes that there are others out there who are researching my particular Curtis line...... Abel Curtis (no further information, except that he supposedly is a son of a Noah Curtis) married Anna Donne who was born 1778, Ballston, Saratoga County, New York. Anna (nee Donne) Curtis died suddenly on May 17, 1854 while living with her daughter, Zelpha (nee Curtis) Snyder. Abel and Anna had a grandson, Wendell Joseph Curtis who was living in about 1926 in Rochester, New York. I have found information on Wendell, but cannot find anything on his grandparents, Abel and Anna. Supposedly Abel Curtis is descended from Henry Curtis who immigrated in 1600's, and was of Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut, and supposedly died November 30, 1661, Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. Anyone out there related to any of these CURTIS ancestors? or could someone point me in the direction of information on these people? appreciatively, ginny gandrup

I have a little info about A Fielding Curtis, Sr. b. Mar 1,1757 in Halifax Co., Va. His wife was Charity b. 1757. They had Sons, Fielding Jr. , John, William, and Moses, and probably a daughter Patty. They moved to Union, S.C. in 1775 and to KY by 1816. Fielding Sr, died in 1835. He and Charity may have been divorced because I have info that he remarried a Lenna Woods 18 Apr 1816. Charity may have died before 1860. I also have a little more info about Fielding Jr.'s travels. He ended up in Callaway, Mo. where he died in 1861. Hope this is helpful info to you. I would appreciate any info you have about this family. Fielding Sr. was evidently the brother of my direct ancestor Moses Curtis, b. abt 1769. He was my GGGG Grandfather. I do have a Moses Curtis that may have been born in Tennessee abt 1820. Does the census show your Moses' age in 1880. Mine was the son of Hillary and Susanna Curtis. Hillary's father was also Moses Curtis b.abt 1769 possibly in Va. Hillary was probably born in S.C. in 1795. I don't have much more info than that about these people, but would like to have more. My direct ancestor was Moses(1830) brother George Curtis b. abt 1825 in Jackson Tenn. I hope we can establish a link. Larry D. FORWARDED TO THE LIST. Please reply to Steve privately as he is not subscribed Hi we are doing a paper on Ephraim, and looking for input, from anyone interested in this line thanks Steven A. Curtis nevadacurtis@earthlink.net 132.162. Ephraim6, Oliver5, Ephraim4, Ephraim3, Joseph2 , Henry1 Ephraim, 132.162., born March 27, 1798, in Ward, (now Auburn) Worchester County, Massachusetts, son of Oliver and Judith (Holman)(Chase) Curtis. The year Ephraim was born his family moved to Sutton, Worchester County, onto property that Judith, his mother, had received as her dower from her deceased husband David Chase. Ephraim's sister, Betsey, was born there May 17, 1800. We note by the Federal census of that year that the family consisted, in addition to Ephraim, Betsey and their parents of four others, probably Able Chase, 10; Polly Chase, 12; Sally Chase, 14; and Eber Chase,16., Hampshire County deeds record that In 1806 Ephraim's father Oliver bought a 100-acre farm in Pelham, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. And the family moved there in 1807. By the time of the 1810 Federal census the family members in the household consisted of Able Chase and Ephraim and Betsey Curtis plus parents Oliver and Judith. Ephraim's father, Oliver, died in 1815 and was buried in the Cook-Johnson Cemetery in Pelham. Oliver's Will left his real and personal property to his son Ephraim naming his mother Judith as guardian, and executor. Except that he bequeathed unto his only daughter Betsey Curtis $200 in good and lawful money, and one good cow to be paid to her on the day of her marriage or at the age of 21 years if she should remain single until that time. In 1816 the year following the death of his father, Ephraim's mother, Judith, as her son's guardian, sold the farmstead at Pelham and moved to Preston, Chenango County, New York to live with her oldest son David Chase. Ephraim's mother died December 31, 1829 and was buried in Curtis Cemetery, Preston, New York. Ephraim married Susanna Rogers October 29,1819. Her parents were Ethan and Sarah (Sally Truman) Rogers. Susanna (more frequently referred to as Susan) was born September 3, 180l in Montville, Ct. She died in Truxton NY February 16, 1842 of typhoid Fever and is buried in the Curtis/Rogers cemetery in Preston, Chenango County, New York. This is where Ephraim is buried along with a son, Oliver, daughter Julia Ann, Ephraim's mother Judith also parents and extended family members of Susan. GPS coordinates are 75W 38' 00"; 42N 29' 41" Additional information on Ephraim's descendents is available in James Rogers of New London, Ct. and His Descendants, by James Swift Rogers. Published 1902 Ephraim was a minister for many years in the Seventh Day Baptist Church. He died at the age of 35 in Ostelic NY and his headstone in the Curtis/Rogers cemetery in Preston states "In memory of ELD. EPHRAIM CURTIS who died in Ostelic, March 24, 1833, AGED 35 YEARS".
