Am suspecting he and Asa may have been related. Have hit so many brick walls on researching Gad but recently discovered the land sale and thought maybe it would shed some info. Gad susposedly b New York too March 1790. Do you have any of Asa's children's names? Gad later moved to Canada, then Indiana. Where in Macomb did Asa live? When did he die? Gad is said to have died MI, near Detroit 1869. Carolyn

According to "legend", his father was also an Asa, but I haven't been able to connect the two. The son was too young (15) to be dealing in land, but the father wwouldn't have been. Asa (1798) was born in New York and moved from there to Monroe County, Michigan in 1836. The place he lived prior to moving to MI was Niagara County, NY. By the map, our Asa kin don't seem far apart, but could be worlds apart. Do you have any more information on your Asa? Any additional information would be appreciated! Mary Daily medaily@idir.net

I have a lot of saved messages and email addresses and I check them when I do additional research or obain new/additional info on a particular person or line. So, at some future point if I do have additional info, you will get a message from me.

Apparently someone made a connection between my Curtis line from King George County and the Curtis's of Stafford County which to this point I did think we were related. You may want to try that listing if you have not found what you are looking for todate.

I am attempting to locate ancestors in the Massachusetts area in the 1830-40 era. My g-g-g-grandfather was a Dr. Thomas Curtis who moved first to Georgia then to South Carolina in the 1840's. He had a son (also Thomas Curtis) who remained in Massachusetts and filled a chair at Harvard. They had emigrated from England in 1833 after the loss of wife and mother Susan Reynoldson Curtis. There was also a sister/daughter Julia who remained in the north. This may or may not be in the same Curtis line but your information on the NY Curtis line caught my attention.

Thank you very much!!
I am trying yet again to find these brothers. Although born in 1862, 1868 and 1873, they are not be found in the 1880 census and Robert is not in the 1900 census. They were all born in NYC, mother's name Isabella Wilkie, father Steward May Curtis. They moved to Brooklyn in the 1870's. Isabella died and Steward remarried an Adel Thompson and had a son Alfred C. Curtis in 1877. Ring any bells? Linda
