James Curtis had a daughter named Nancy that married Leonard Everett Smith Sr and migrated to NY from Connecticut. We believe that James Curtis also came to NY state with them. Don't know if there is a connection here.

He married Martha Ann Hunter in Sumner Co., TN before 1844. They had 11 children: Mahala (F), William, Henry, Saffrona, John, Rebecca, Eliza, Robert, Rueben, Garland, James M. They moved from TN to Texas county, Missouri before 1855, and then onto Nebraska after 1860. He died in Pawnee county, Nebraska in 1889. Most of their children came with to Nebraska.
