    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Curtis, Hyatt,Lockwood Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/TmQ.2ACIB/2134 Message Board Post: Who were the parents of ANN ELIZABETH CURTIS? Ann was born in 1819 probably in New York or possibly Connecticut. (NY per 1850 census, or CT per 1860 census) Ann died in 1871 and was buried in the Upper Silvermine Cemetery, Norwalk, Connecticut. The gravestone reads” Ann Elizabeth, wife of Roswell Hyatt, died 18 October 1871 AE 51. Gone but not forgotten.” Ann married Roswell Hyatt on 9 September 181838. Their children all born at Silvermine, Norwalk, Connecticut. Surname Hyatt; 1) Henry Edson b. 15 July 1839, 2) Ann Amelia b. 19 May 1841, 3) Eunice Aphelia b. 10 April 1843, 4) Charles Lockwood b. 10 July 1845, 5) Isaac Beach b. 2 February 1848, 6) Emma Frances b. 10 April 1850, 7) Stephen Oscar b. 2 June 1852, 8) Roswell Francis b. 2 August 1854. In the Historical Record of the Town of Meriden, Connecticut, 1906, volume 2, a reference is made concerning Isaac Beach Hyatt. It states “---He is the son of Roswell and Elizabeth (Curtis) Hyatt. He comes of good old New England stock thru both lines of descent and was born February 2, 1848.” Evidently the family of Ann Elizabeth Curtis was well established in New England. 1. Curtis ancestors in Yorkshire, England
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/TmQ.2ACIB/2132 Message Board Post: I live in Yorkshire, England and I am trying to find any descendants of Curtis ancestors who were born and lived in Yorkshire, England. I have been researching family history for more than 25 years and some of the surnames connected to me and others are: Curtis/Fall/Dewes/Swale/Dawson. All of these have married into each others family lines back here in Yorkshire, way back in the 1700's and 1800's.. Many descendants went to Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois. My family history on many of those who are connected to these lines is huge but there are those who went to America that I can't research, because I live in Yorkshire. I am trying to find any descendants of these surnames in America whose ancestors were born and lived in Yorkshire. There were some family members of these families in England who went to America and nothing is known about them. One such example is James Swale who married Eleanor Fall in 1876; it is believed that they both went to America as this was recorded in a family bible after 1882. Example 2: Is that of Elizabeth Dawson who married John Dewes and emigrated after 1819 to America. They had the following children. John DEWES was born 7 Sep 1802 in Marton and was christened 28 Sep 1802 in Marton-cum-Grafton. He died 22 Oct 1802 in Marton and was buried 24 Oct 1802 in Marton-cum-Grafton. Ann DEWES was born 1 Oct 1803. John DEWES was born 31 Jan 1806 in Marton and was christened 2 Feb 1806 in Marton-cum-Grafton. He died about 1836 in the USA. John emigrated with his parents after 1819 to America. Elizabeth DEWES was born 26 Feb 1811. Jane Ann DEWES was christened 20 Apr 1814 and died 12 Feb 1871. Robert DEWES was christened 8 Sep 1816 in Marton-cum-Grafton. He died in the USA but it is believed that he returned to England and married here then returned to America. Example 3: Is that of Ann Dawson who married Matthew CURTIS, son of Matthew CURTIS, on 16 Oct 1798 in Marton-cum-Grafton. Matthew died 2 Oct 1850. They had the following children, Mary CURTIS was born 17 Jun 1805. She died in the USA. Mary married James DANIEL, James & Mary emigrated to the USA and had three children there. Matthew CURTIS was born 18 Jan 1810. He died in the USA. Matthew married Hannah CURTIS, daughter of Joseph CURTIS. Ellen CURTIS was born 22 Jun 1817 and was christened 13 Jul 1817 in Arkendale. She died 1843 in the USA. Joseph Silversides CURTIS was born 21 Nov 1827 and was christened 18 Dec 1827 in Coltsgate Hill Wesleyan Methodist, Ripon. He died 1849 in the USA. 1. Re: [CURTIS] Confused about Curtis/Curtiss from Nazeing, England
    2. The Stratford and the Roxbury lines are connected by an entry that John Elliot made in which he referred to John (Straford Line) as an Uncle to William of Roxbury. Hence, the lines were connected. This entry may have happened because of the fact that John Elliot's sister, Sarah, was the wife of William. I personally know of no proof that the Wethersfield line is connected. I was told by Thomas Curtis, the owner of the now closed "Thomas of Wethersfield website" that DNA test were done and the results were negative. Personally, in my heart, I think there is a link someplace. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: CURTIS, CURTISS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/TmQ.2ACIB/2127 Message Board Post: Hi, I have a serious question. I was told that the John CURTISS of Stratford, CT, William CURTIS of Roxbury, MA, and Thomas "The Settler" CURTIS of Wethersfield, CT were all 3 related. Someone told my cousin this a long time ago, and she and a few others have researched their descendants ever since. Then in the last couple of days she was told the Roxbury line was not related to the Wethersfield line. Today she was told the Stratford line wasn't either. Now we're REALLY confused. What I need to know is...if and how these lines relate or link in ANY way. If anyone can give me an honest, straight answer I would GREATLY appreciate it. My e-mail address is Slainte0822@aol.com, which is registered with the Curtis-Curtiss Society. Thank you in advance for any help. Sincerely, Kelly L. Kahlau
