The files are not totally inaccessible and it will depend on just where my file on this Elijah is located as to whether I can get to it from a practical standpoint. I'll see what I can locate. However, from the information you gave me, you probably have as much as I do on him. I did trace him to Missouri, that much I remember and I think, but not positive, that I may have had info on his siblings and his father, but it has been over 15 years since I last remember looking at his folder, and it's probably closer to 20 years ago. I may have something on him though in my more readily accessible notes and I'll check there too. I know that it is not always easy to distinguish him from Elijah Curtis b. 31 December 1776 in Anson County, North Carolina, especially in some of the statewide records of Tennessee, such as militia records, etc., as both men settled for a time in Tennessee. Elijah Curtis of Anson was in Stewart County, TN from around 1807 to about 1816± when he moved first to Marengo Co., Alabama, then to Sumter Co., Alabama, and finally to Choctaw County, Mississippi in 1854 where he died in 1864. --- Jay

Their son, Halem, was my great grandfather. Halem's daughter, Selma, who married a Pruitt was my grandmother. She always told us that Hannah was 1/2 cherokee indian and that her MOTHER was the full blooded and her father was Irish. Greenberry, which was her father, sounds more like an Indian name. My uncle has a picture of Hannah, I believe. I did my family tree my junior year in high school and my grandmother let me use some of her pictures. I gave them back to her and then about two weeks later, she passed away. None of the pictures could be found. So, she probably gave away the pictures to my uncle and we didn't know. He has been working on the family tree and I told him that I wanted to see the picture. We do have a picture of Hannah and Marcus together as an old couple. I would have to locate it also. I think my other uncle has that one.
I hope someone can help me with the Curtis Family in McDowell County, NC. In the 1860 Census for Marion, NC household #899 there is: T.W. Curtis 30 (who "may" be son of Baxter Curtis and Sarah Rhodes) Catherine Curtis 26 William Curtis 5 C.L. Curtis 4 (female - Catherine??) Augustus Curtis 1 And in household # 920 there is: Thomas Curtis 27 (parents??) Margaret Curtis 24 Columbus Curtis 5 Catherine Curtis 3 Augustus Curtis 1 In McDowell County marriage records I find, Thomas W. Curtis married to Margaret Catherine Hall on 7/27/1854. . Many of the Curtis Family moved to Fannin County, GA. In the 1870 Fannin County, GA Census there is, Thomas Curtis and his wife Margaret and children Columbus, Catherine, James, Alice and Cynthia. They live next door to Joshua Hall and his wife Cynthia Elvira Curtis Hall. I believe Margaret C, Hall is a sister to Joshua Hall. They were married in McDowell County in 1856. Cynthia Curtis Hall is a daughter of Thomas J. Curtis and Lucinda Bird. Neither of these Thomas Curtis' is their son, Thomas O. Curtis. Who are T.W. Curtis' parents? Who are Thomas Curtis' parents? Which of the spouses is Margaret Catherine Hall? Thanks for any help. Carolyn Curtis
