    2. Knoxville News Sentinel (Knox Co. TN) Saturday, July 24, 2010: CUPP, ALFRED LLOYD (BID or AL) - age 85, of Knoxville, Tennessee, born November 20, 1924, went to his heavenly home, Thursday morning, July 22, 2010 at Parkwest Hospital after an extended illness. He was of the Methodist faith (New Salem United Methodist Church in his early years, and Solway United Methodist Church over 50 years). Alfred was a WW II Army Veteran (Victory Ribbon Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon and AP Theater Ribbon.) He was stationed in Hawaii and Japan. Alfred was employed, by Union Carbide, Marten Marietta Energy Systems (K25) and BWXT Y 121 Bechtel Enterprise as a draftsman. He loved being a Cub Scout Master and coaching his two sons, and neighbors' children in softball. He also loved working in different church positions throughout his Christian life (lay leader, many boards and treasurer.) Preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Parks Cupp and Lena Bell Goddard Cupp; brothers, Earl Lee Cupp, Cleo Rule Cupp, Ambrose Riley Cupp (Sam), Wallace Cupp, Edward Cupp; sisters, Stella Cupp, Trula Cupp Duban Mugford and James Mugford, RPH, PHO; grandson, Mark Adam Cupp. Alfred is survived by Anna Lea H. Cupp, his loving wife, of 56 years; two devoted sons, Phillip Lloyd Cupp and Leigh Merry Cupp, of Augusta, GA, Lynn Evan Cupp, of Knoxville; grandsons, Ronnie Evan Cupp and David Wayne Cupp; granddaughter, Leigh Ann Cupp, of Augusta, GA; brother, Ray Parks Cupp (Bud) and Shirley Cupp; sister, Mary Ellen (Dottie) Gammon and Jim Gammon; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends will be received at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, Saturday, July 24, 2010, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Solway United Methodist Church, 3300 Guinn Rd. (off Solway Rd.) Sunday, July 25, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. The body will lie in state from 1:30 - 2:00 p.m. at the church. Graveside service and interment will follow at the Anderson Memorial Christus Gardens, Rt. 7, Hwy. 61 By Pass, Clinton, TN 37716. Reverend Henry Lenoir is officiating at both services. Memorials may be made to the Solway United Methodist Church or the charity of choice.
