What makes this confusing is Edward was the first of the family to change his name to Cummins (probably when they came to America). Nicholas took the name Comins and stubbornly used that name throughout his lifetime. His daughter Elizabeth used the name Comins also. Nicholas was born 1602 in London, England, and died 1656 in York County, VA. He married Ellenor Ellison abt. 1621. She was born abt.1601 in Virginia and died abt.1660 in York County, VA. Their children were: Elizabeth Comins, born abt. 1632, who married Robert Harrison; and Nicholas Cummins Jr., born abt. 1636 in Virginia. Nicholas Jr. married Elizabeth Hooper 1657 in York County.
