Well, I am not sure where our Cummins line came from yet; apparently they just "appeared" in Ohio, but thank you all for the interesting origins of the name! Personally, I believe my g.g.grandfather was hatched out of an egg, in the middle of Missouri, with no one there to see it &, of course, no parents. Susan
