I came across the following while searching some PA Archives at: http://searches.rootsweb.com/usgenweb/archives/pa/lehigh/church/lehi0001.txt Contributed for use in USGenweb Archives by Tim Conrad. tconrad@lucent.com Note that there is some overlap in attendance between this church and the Longswamp Reformed Church on the other side of the county border in Berks County, PA. That is, there are both Lehigh and Berks folks at both churches. Debbie, I am glad to meet you. All that I know about the SHIRKEY line is that according to the Clark County, MO, marriage records, John B. SHIRKEY married 13 Oct 1850, Catherine CULLER. According to the 1850, Clark Co., MO, census, Catherine CULLER was the daughter of Jacob CULLER, [listed on census as CULLIN], 46, and wife Nancy, 46. Catherine was listed as 19 years on the census. Hello Sally and ALL, I signed onto this list because of the possibility of a CULLER/KOEHLER/KOHLER connection. My husband's family's surname was probably KÖHLER in Germanic Europe. My long ago <G> and limited rememberance of high school German tells me that the Ö pronunciation is somewhat like our long U sound. And, since the names were spelled in so many different ways when our ancestors arrived, it is really hard to tell who is related to whom many times. Our Christian F. KOEHLER came to the U.S. in 1852. He had been born in Germanic Europe in 1837. He fought for the Union in the Civil War and then m/ Sophia/Sopha NEUMANN in Wolcottsville, NY. They settled in Macon County, MO. He d 1906, and she, in 1918. Both are buried in Macon, Macon County, MO. I'm glad to be here and hope that everyone will post his/her information. ~ Leslie (Bridges) Kohler ListOwner/Moderator for MO-ABSTRACTS-L@RootsWeb.com MoCarrol-L@RootsWeb.com & GenConnect Boards MoAdair-L@RootsWeb.com & GenConnect Query Board KOEHLER-L@RootsWeb.com & GenConnect Boards McMURRY-L@RootsWeb.com & GenConnect Boards TROTTER-L@RootsWeb.com & GenConnect Boards KOHLER-L@RootsWeb.com & GenConnect Boards KAHLER-L@RootsWeb.com & GenConnect Boards KELLER-L@RootsWeb.com & GenConnect Boards KELLAR-L@RootsWeb.com & GenConnect Boards McMURRAY-L@RootsWeb.com & GenConnect Boards
Welcome to the CULLER surname list. It has been so quiet that I hadn't realized that there were list-members, yet, so I am going to jump right in here. Perhaps we can put our heads together and come up with some of the answers we are all seeking. For me that would be, who is my immigrant CULLER ancestor? My research has come to a halt at Jacob CULLER, b. about 1804, (he was 46 on the 1850, census) probably in Pennsylvania. In 1850, his wife was Nancy ____? Jacob and Nancy had the following children: 1. John CULLER, b. abt 1831, probably PA. Married 12 Dec 1852, Clark Co., MO, Mary LAPORTE. 2. Catharine CULLER, b. abt 1833, prob. PA., m. 13 Oct 1850, John B. SHIRKEY. 3. Smith CULLER, b. 20 Apr 1836, Mt. Pleasant, Westmoreland, PA., m. 22 Nov 1857, Peaksville, Clark Co., MO, Malvinia JEWETT, b. 6 Feb 1841, Ohio. 4. George CULLER, b. abt 1839, Fayette Co., PA. 5. Martin CULLER, b. abt 1841, Westmoreland Co., PA., m. 16 Nov 1864, Hancock Co., IL, Elizabeth RIST. 6. Michael CULLER, b. abt 1843, Westmoreland Co., PA. 7. Esther CULLER, b. abt 1848, PA. Sally Gustafson Santa Barbara, CA sallyg@west.net .
