My oldest reference, "Diccionario Biografico Cubano" 1878, lists doctors in medicine as "Doctor en Medicina", lawyers as "Abogado" etc. I could not find any reference to "Licensiado" or for an Arrastia. My experience today is that in most South American countries the use of licensiado means a humanities or social sciences undergraduate university degree. Saludos, Jorge.
