Hello all, I am new to this list but for several years now I have been trying to find out exactly how my Gt. Grandfather`s brother, Alexander Buick, died. So far I have had no success. All I have to go on is what appears on his father`s gravestone in Scotland, which reads as follows: The gravestone is in St. Vigeans cemetery, near Arbroath, Scotland. Erected by Alexander Buick, Shipmaster, in memory of his mother Agnes Robertson who died 30th June 1851 aged 53 years and of his father James Buick, Wright, who died 2nd July 1853 aged 57 years Also of his son James Robertson (Buick) who died 12th August 1861 aged 3 weeks. The gravestone has the additional inscription: The above Alexander Buick died in Havana 17th September 1861 aged 32 years. Although this is an "offshoot" to my own family tree, I have wondered about this for several years and have had no success on the Scottish side of things, so if anyone has any ideas as to where I can go from here on the Cuban side, I would be most grateful. I assume Alexander`s death was related to a ship wreck, but of course I could be way off target. Gwenda
