This is a message I sent to Emma. I'm sending it to you too just in case these names ring a bell to you. Here's the message: "Emma I hope you can give me some insight. My grandmother's name was Sofia Laffigne. She died back in the 80s around the age of 97. She said that her father was black and his last name was Laffigne. The only Laffigne that I can find in Mayaguez was a Turull Laffigne from New Orleans. I wonder if there is any relationship. Also he was married to a white Dutch woman. My grandmother cannot remember anything else since her parents died when she was young. She was from the Mayaguez area and had I believe two other sisters who sorta shunned her because she looked black and they were mulato with blond hair. Does any of this sound familiar? I find it a strange coincidence that her name would be Sofia also. I understand there is a Sofia in your family line. Maybe she was named after someone? Please response as soon! as you can. The Laffigne name is indeed very, very rare."
