It is my understanding that they came to Tampa from Cuba in the early 1900s. There are several stories, one of which is that my grandmother was from nobility and that my grandfather was a commoner who grew tobacco; one of the stories is that she followed him to Cuba from the Canary Islands. Nothing has been confirmed.
