Hello, I live in South Carolina and can confirm the existence of at least one very large and prominent Jenrette family in this state. There was a Congressman from South Carolina in the 1970Žs, John Jenrette, who became nationally famous when charges of corruption were brought against him as a result of the Abscam corruption investigation. He and his wife at the time, Rita, were the focus of several media outlets for a while back then. I would not be surprised at all to find a genealogical connection between the Jenrettes here and Jenrettes in Cuba. One important historical connection between South Carolina and Cuba can be traced back to migration from Haiti/Saint-Domingue to Cuba, and from Cuba to Louisiana, Savannah, and Charleston during the first half of the 19th century. If you do a Google or Yahoo search for Jenrette and "South Carolina" you will probably find enough information to be able to contact members of the Jenrette family here who may be able to help you with genealogical information. Good luck, Margarita > Does anyone know how I can find out the history of a Cuban male by the last name > of Jenrette (or a variation of the spelling) who owned or was part of upper > management of the New York Macy's during the 1950's? > > > --------------------------------- > Do you Yahoo!? > Friends.
