My mother, Herminia Julia Sotolongo de Molina y Valdez, was born in Cuba, though she was older than your mother, born in 1891 in Havana. She married my father Pedro Rogelio Molina in Havana in 1909. They both came to the US with 3 children settling in Ybor City, Tampa, FL. I and a younger brother were born in Tampa. The depression forced the family to move to NYC and in the fifties, my Dad and Mom moved to LA, CA and my two oldest brothers moved also. I enlisted during WW II serving in China, Burma and India. I made it a career and retired in '63. My parents passed away (Mom in 1957) and are buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Whittier, CA. In the nineties, I did some genealogy research with the aid of some well known Cuban Genealogists on my fathers side and on my mother's. We found Sotolongs going back to the early 1700s and on my father's side to Spain and as early as the year 1212. I had to drop my Genealogy res! earch due to health problems and only recently have started dabbing at it again. I wish you a the luck in the world and hope you connect. Don't be discouraged if some leads go no where. Just stay at it and try to hook up with some of the pros. I can suggest that you try the Family History Centers of the Church of the Latter Day Saints. They have FHCs in all states and in major cities. A visit to the nearest one to you could prove fruitful. You'll get help there, free of charge. Good Luck!
