This is taken form the book "Antonio Maceo, The Bronze Titan of Cuba's Struggle for Independence" by Philip S., Forner. Jose Antonio Maceo was the son of Marcos Maceo and Mariana Grajales. Marcos Maceo was born in Venezuela to Clara Maceo. He had a brother, Doroteo and two sisters, Barbara and Maria del Rosario. They left Venezuela in 1825 and migrated to Santo Domingo when Venezuela achieved independence. That island was in upheaval too, so they went to Cuba. This family was free blanks. In 1843 Marcos ands Mariana Grajales joined in common law marriage, which was legitimatized in 1851. They had nine children, the first one being Jose Antonio. In 1866 Antonio Maceo married Maria Magdalena Cabrales y Fernnadez, I hope this helps.
