Surnames: Hall, Sloan, Puig, Chisolm, Ingraham, Malga Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/kRC.2ACE/5628 Message Board Post: I am still seeking information on the origins of William P. Hall, born according to US census records in Cuba in1825, and died SC 1882 or 1883. He was in Charleston, SC, in 1861 and still there for the 1880 census. He was married to Susan Sloan, daughter of Benjamin Franklin Sloan. He was the principal in Hall & Co. and/or W. P. Hall & Co. in Charleston. Some connection with Henry Tucker Hall and perhaps with the family of George Hall Ingraham. A brother in law of W. P. Hall was Victor Malga who was born in Spain (Mataró, Barcelona). A cousin to Victor Malga was Emilio Puig y Moler, also born in Spain. Emilio Puig is in the Malga household in the 1860 census. These people had strong connections in Cuba and were engaged in (or at least encouraged investment in) blockade running during the American Civil War. A daughter of William P. Hall was named Felicia Oliveras Hall, wife of W. B. Chisolm. A nephew living in his house in 1880 was named G. Oliveras Hall. Another nep! hew had the last name Bass.
