If you check the actual document it definitely says Cuba. Maybe Robert was the only one who remember that his mother was born there? It seems unlikely that he would make information like that up, or that he would not remember that she was in fact born in Bermuda. He gets everything else right on the census... I've hit a big dead end with Mary Ann Vaughan, so I welcome a new place to search for her. I have also heard older family members, now deceased, claim that she was of mixed race.
