    1. Re: [CUBA] Labra Vidal - Cuba
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: og0122 Surnames: Labra Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.caribbean.cuba.general/4989.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Arnold, we communicated via email on 12/15/2004, but I just saw that you posted a message on 12/7/2005. I haven't worked on my geneaology in a while (I was busy caring for my grandparents and with a new baby); however, here is the most updated information regarding my Labra ancestors. The Ancestry of Alfonso Augusto Labra in the Spanish region of Asturias: First Generation 1. Alfonso Augusto Labra 1 was born in Matanzas (Cuba). Second Generation 2. Alfonso de Labra Noriega 2 was born in Madrid. He married3 María Mercedes Fernández deLabra in 1893 in Rosario, Mexico. 3. María Mercedes Fernández de Labra 4 was born5 in 1873 in Madrid. Third Generation 4. Diego de Labra Tejuca was born on 12 Jun 1816 in Corao Castillo, in the Asturian municipality of Cangas de Onís. He was christened6 in the parish church of Santa Eulalia de Abamia 4 days later. He married 5. Josefa Noriega 7 . 6. Bernardo Fernández Narciandi was born8 on 19 Aug 1837 in Isongo, in the municipality of Cangas de Onís. He was christened in its parish church of Santa Eulalia de Abamia the next day. He died9 in 1890. He married10 María Teresa de Labra González on 9 Apr 1866 in the parishchurch of Santa Eulalia de Abamia. Bernardo's marriage record states that he and Teresa requested and received dispensation to marry, as they were third cousins. 7. María Teresa de Labra González was born11 on 16 Aug 1837 in Corao Castillo. She waschristened in its parish church the following day. She died12 in 1883. Teresa's original baptism record could not be found, despite being conscientiously sought in the registers of both Abamia and Labra, the two parishes in which she was most likely to have been baptized. The rest of Diego de Labra's children appear to have all been baptized in the Abamia church, but since Concepción was from Labra it seemed advisable to check there as well. The baptism must have been recorded, though, for it was entered as an amendment to an earlier, defective record, in the baptism register in use on 6 May 1890. The most likely explanation is that the original record had been accidentally entered in the wrong sacramental book, perhaps the death record book, which is now missing. In any event, Teresa is specifically named as a daughter of Diego's both in her marriage record and in her father's death record. That record names her between her siblings Benita and María Concepción; this had suggested that she was born between 1833 and 1836, but then, the record also erroneously implied that Benito was Diego's eldest son. Perhaps the priest simply forgot to record her baptism, or perhaps her parents were travelling outside their home parish when Teresa was born. Fourth Generation 8. Don Diego Labra 13 was born on 6 Jan 1796 in Corao Castillo. He was christened14 in the parish church of Santa Eulalia de Abamia that same day. He died15 on 14 Jun 1864 in Corao Castillo. He married16 Doña Francisca Tejuca on 6 Feb 1815 in the parish church of Santa Eulalia de Abamia. Diego and his first wife, Francisca, had the following children: * Diego, born 12 June 1816; * Benito, born 3 March 1818; * Bárbara, born 19 December 1820; * Pedro Francisco, born 19 March 1824; * Antonia María, born 14 June 1827; and * Manuel, born 28 October 1831. The record of Diego's second marriage, to María Concepción González, could not be founeither in the records of Diego's home parish of Abamia or the records of Concepción's home parish of San Bartolomé de Labra. The window in which the marriage must have taken place is a narrow one; Diego's first wife Francisca gave birth to their last child together on 28 October 1831, and barely two years later, on 15 December 1833, Concepción gave birth to Benita, her first child by Diego. Diego and María Concepción had the following children:* Benita, born 15 December 1833; * María Concepción, born 12 September 1836;* Francisco, born 11 February 1841; * Juan and * Antonio (twins) born 3 Jul 1843; and * Teresa. There appears to have been some genetic disposition to twin births here. Barely a year after Diego's twin sons were born, his son Benito's wife gave birth on 26 August 1844 to twin daughters, María and Teresa. Diego's death record correctly gives his age and states that he made a will, though the notary who held it is not named. The record also states that Diego had nine children, but does not distinguish between those of the first and second marriage, nor does it name Francisca Tejuca at all. The nine children mentioned are Benito, Barbara, Diego, Benita, Teresa, María Concepción, Francisco, Antonio and Juan. 9. Doña Francisca Tejuca 17 was born18 on 7 Mar 1795 in Celorio, in the municipality of Cangas de Onís. She was christened in its parish church of Santa Eulalia de Abamia the next day. She died about 1831. Francisca must have died shortly after the birth of her last child, Manuel, who was born on 28 October 1831 and baptized at the Abamia parish two days later. 12. Manuel Fernández 19 was born20 in Isongo. He married Josefa Narciandi. 13. Josefa Narciandi 21 was born22 in Cueto, in the municipality of Cangas de Onís. 14. Don Diego Labra, the same person as #8 on page 2. 15. Doña María Concepción González was born23 in Labra, in the municipality of Cangas de OnÃShe died before 1864. María Concepción must have died before 1864, for her husband was named as a widower inhis death record. Fifth Generation 16. Don Francisco Labra 24 .Francisco married25 Doña Bárbara González on 14 Oct 1793 in the parischurch of San Bartolomé de Labra. 17. Doña Bárbara González 26 was born in the parish of San Bartolomé de Labr 18. Don Pedro Tejuca 27 .Pedro married28 Doña María Soto on 8 Mar 1791 in the parish church ofSanta Eulalia de Abamia. 19. Doña María Soto 29 . 24. Bernardo Fernández 30 .Bernardo married 25. Josefa González 31 . 26. Fernando Narciandi 32 .Fernando married33 Josefa de Labra on 10 Oct 1793 in the parish church of Santa Eulalia de Abamia. Fernando was a widower when he married Josefa de Labra, having been married once already, to Francisca González Teleña.He is probably the Fernando Narciandi, a son of Fernando Narciandi (the elder) and Francisca de Intriago, who is mentioned occasionally in other people's records at the time, but it would be necessary to locate the record of his first marriage to confirm this, as the names of parents are not mentioned in records of widowers' subsequent marriages. 27. Josefa de Labra 34 . 28. Don Francisco Labra , the same person as #16 on page 3. 29. Doña Bárbara González , the same person as #17 on page 3 30. Don Francisco González 35,36 was born37 in the parish of San Bartolomé de Labra. He married 31. Doña Josefa Pérez 38,39 who was born in Berodia, in the Asturian municipality of Cabrales. Sixth Generation 32. Francisco de Labra 40,41 .Francisco married42 , before 1771, 33. Josefa de Intriago 43 . 34. José González 44 . José marrie 35. Manuela Alonso 45 . 36. Pedro Tejuca 46 . Pedro married 37. Manuela González 47 . 38. Diego de Soto 48 died49 on 15 Jul 1795. He married Teresa González. Diego's death record states that he had time to make only a very brief will, due to his illness, and that he left five children, Francisco, José, María, Rosa and Teresa, all married by 1795. 39. Teresa González 50 . 54. Francisco de Labra , the same person as #32 on page 4. 55. Josefa de Intriago , the same person as #33 on page 4. 56. Francisco de Labra , the same person as #32 on page 4. 57. Josefa de Intriago , the same person as #33 on page 4. 58. José González , the same person as #34 on page 4. 59. Manuela Alonso , the same person as #35 on page 4. Seventh Generation 64. Diego de Labra 51 .Diego married 65. María García 52 .Diego and María resided in Corao Castillo. 66. Pedro de Intriago 53 .Pedro married 67. Doña Francisca Pérez 54 .Pedro and Francisca resided in the village of Intriago. 72. Pedro Tejuca 55 . Curiously, Pedro's wife is not named in the sole record hitehrto examined that pertains to him, the 1773 baptism record of his grandson Francisco Tejuca. 74. Tomás González 56 .Tomás marrie 75. Josefa Sarmiento 57 . Tomás and Josefa were stated in 1773 to be residents of the Sobrecueva area of the Abamia parish. 108. Diego de Labra , the same person as #64 on page 4. 109.
