Do be aware that at the Ellis Island entry, the "American way of surnames" came into play, and it didn't matter that the wife coming in had never used her husband's surname, only her own father's then mother's surname.....at the Ellis Island, they USUALLY entered HIS surname method, especially if she was traveling with him (but not always!).
