His mother was Pura Nevaro, possibly born 1893 in either Cuba or Spain. She divorced and took John back to Cuba. She remarried possibly twice. Known names are also Pura Long, Pura De Cahell, Pura Cahill, and Pura Ruiz. John also went by John Cahill or Juan Cahill. Pura has a sister Anesita Marina (born 1894) and her grandmother is Trinidad Orozco. They traveled between Cuba and New York many times and I believe Trinidad lived here. Pura settled here.
