    3. Thanks for the history lesson. My Hernandez branch (my direct line) is descended from the Canary Islands (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) there is no genetic evidence for the Guanches being descended from Vikings on the contrary there was plenty of genetic evidence but in genetic research and in Isleños own genetic genealogy test that the native of the Canary Islands were related to the Berber groups of North Africa. 3. I've been away in the Scottish Highlands, without coverage and haven't been able to contribute to this interesting debate. I continue to doubt the theory about Filipinos in Pinar, or at least in great numbers. I will do more research and get back. Chinese, yes, and they did come from the Philippines, where there are millions of Chinese, but only in the 19th century, if I remember correctly. But not ethnic Filipinos. Never heard of it. Guane is thought to come from pre-Columbian Indians, and the sound is one one hears all over Cuba--Guanatabyes, for example. On the DNA makeup, your "Moroccan" is very, very likely to be Berber, most probably from the eight centuries of Moorish rule, or perhaps from the troops Hannibal brought over. You got these from Spain as well. Oz is right about the Guanches, BTW: also Berber. mike Sent from my iPad On 6 Aug 2011, at 09:22, Alex Hernandez <alexthoth@gmail.com> wrote: > Thanks for the history lesson. 3. Yeah, I agree the Moroccan signature in my DNA is definitely Berber, both from the Moorish ocupation of Spain and the Guanches. The Native American is surely Taino or Ciboney. On the Philippines signature. If it were Chinese it wuould've come our East Asian, but South East Asain-Pacific Islander is mostly likely Filipino.
