There are some Taupiers still in Camaguey and I`m unable to connect with one of them, Taupier-Finlay I guess . He is in my husband`s family. My grandmother was Amelia vandeWater y Finlay. She was daughter of Concepcion Finlay, and great-niece of Carlos Juan Finlay. Since all family records remain in Cuba, I am trying to piece together the diaspora of Edward and Eliza's children. Some of whom I know moved to the US in the late 1800's. My branch remained in Cuba until the 1959 revolution. Hope to hear from you soon. Regards-Alex Miami, FL Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am descendant of the Finlays that remained in Cuba. My grandmother was Amelia van de Water y Finlay. Her mother was Concepcion Finlay who married John L. van de Water. Because all family records in Cuba remain inaccessible, I am having trouble identifying my great grandmother, Concepcion's, father. He may have been a brother of Carlos Juan or a nephew. I have been doing most research via genealogy.com but came across this post today. I hope this will help flesh out the family tree.
