    3. It is actually Ciénfüegos (with the umlauted ü, so that it is pronounced, and not be silent which it would be if it did not have the "umlaut." I do not where she might be now, but there was a very attractive bank official at the Bank of Tokyo, in Coral Gables, Florida, named Elizabeth Parets, and she was from Ciénfüegos. She might now be working at another bank, but I have not seen her in a long time, or know something about her. Oswaldo F. 3. After I speak with my cousin, Ricardo Campos Dufau, in the next 36 hours, and question him about his O'Farrill lineage, I will forward the information to you. I know quite well his Dufau and Záyas lineages, but he has mentioned his O'Farrill lineage sporadically to me. He was born in Santa Clara, but his mother, Margarita (Maggie) Dufau Záyas was from Havana. Oswaldo F. 3. My great-great grandfather (tatarabuelo) was named Manuel Hernández Capiró. His son was Jesús Hernández Sarduy, and my grandfather was Manuel Hernández Leal, who was born in San Juán de las Yeras, in Las Villas Province. The birth records for my grandfather and grandmother I located in La Esperanza, nearby. I understand that San Juán de los Yeras did not have a Catholic church, and that at times the records were kept in Ranchuelo and at times in La Esperanza. According to what my father has told me, it seems that the main origin for the name Capiró in Las Villas Province was Cabaigüan, where the Capirós established and operated the only movie house in the area. My father narrates to me how when my grandfather- who had been elected to the House of Representatives of the Cuban Congress- managed to create the municipality/county of Cabaigüan, which had belonged to the municipality of Sancti Spiritus, he did not re-elected due to this matter. He was a member of the Partido Liberal, and was also a business partner of General Gerardo Machado, later elected president (they used to own a sugar mill Carmita), located near the capital of Santa Clara. One of the Capirós became very well known, and the hill which overlooks the city of Santa Clara was named after him (information of the book collection titled, Enciclopedia de Cuba). I believe that he was a newsman, and that he perhaps established the first newspaper in the city of Santa Clara. I know this little bit of information thru word-of-mouth from my father. Oswaldo F. Do you have any information on that line? My father, who passed away on Oct. 1, 2003, was born in Tampa. He has two sisters who still live in Tampa, but other than a few immediate cousins, I do not know anything about the Pino family. If you know of anything about my grandparents, I certainly would appreciate the information! Thanks. AU86LJP@aol.com

As for my knowledge, I have also gathered that the Sainz name goes back to Spain. They are rather tall, blue or green eyes, light skin. Anyway, I would be interested to know more about the Mexican and Spanish experience of the Sainz. Thank you,

    2. Hello: I have rabelo in my family back in the late 17th century; but according to my records spelled with "v". Somebody here in Miami told me that the name originated, or so it seems, in Italy were there is -- or was a town of that name. Nicolas Cepero y Perez de Bullones, n. Habana 1676; married in 1706 Margarita Ravelo y Doria. Notice that Doria might also be Italian. Marta
