I could not find the etymology of the surname Dumenigo in any of my references. If I was to take a wild guess I would think that its roots are in the word "domingo". Spain's white telephone pages only show one person with that surname in all of Spain, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The US white telephone pages show 54 listings. There are two Cuban composers named Moises Hernandez Dumenigo and Samuel Hernandez Dumenigo. Saludos, Jorge
Señor Diaz-Rodríguez. Pudiera darnos algunos datos más? Algunos nombres ? Saludos Blanca Rodriguez

Some data on the Manzana de Gomez building: The Manzada de Gomez, first entire city block built in Cuba in the beginnings of the 20th century complterely for commercial use with two inner diagonal streets that cross the building in all directions integrating the pedestrian circulation with the outer fabric. The building is about 3 or 4 stories high, in the street level were a lot of stores, men's clothing, shoe store, news and book store (speciallized in foreing newspapers and books most of them from USA), a barber shop,. several cafes, etc. etc. The upper floors were office of professional and export/import agents, travel agency, news media, attorneys, accountants, notary, a post office substation, etc. etc. If you go to the search on your computer, entre "manzana de gomez, cuba" and there are about severla pages regarding the subject. The street areound the city block were - Neptuno street, Zulueta street, Egidos o Monserrate street and a one block street (I don't remember the name) with a center plaza with a monument, and parking spaces...This side of the building was facing the "Centro Asturiano" building, across the street.... This is a very good recollection that I have of this building, that 2 o 3 times a week I passed by or walk thru the inner street (only for pedestrians).....In the inner street there were also several benches for the people to sit to eat an icecream or spoke a cigar...or just reading the newspaper, or waiting for that lady to go to lunch or "merienda".... If I found out the year of construction or any other information about this building will pass it along to all of you in the group. Agustin Cantens Miami, Florida cantens@aol.com

In the third floor I know they had offices...accounting....investors..all kind of professional services.... all under one roof....big windows, some cafes..... On today`s terms you will say that was the "first Mall of Cuba... The building is still there... But I don`t know that they had families living on a Shopping & Commercial Center.......
