I asked my grandmother. She says that she was 11 yrs. old when she left Guane and she is now 89 yrs. old. She only remembers that there were two doctors in Guane, Dr. Rubio and Dr. Delgado. Dr. Rubio was her mother's doctor. She wishes she could remember more. Regards and Good Luck, Denise

<<I would like to join the mentioned organization. I already called Dr. Enrique Hurtado and informed him of your "news," which I think and believe is great. I am a descendant of Pablo de Hita y Salazar, who was governor of Spanish Florida from 1675 to 1680. I am quite certain that he descends from the House of Jimenez, which ruled Navarra from 905 until the Castillian period, which was most responsible for uniting the Christian kingdoms of northern Spain, and the bloodline of which can be found in the bloodline of the Bourbon royal houses of France and Spain. All the research I've done during the past 15 years points to this. Please, let me know what is the necessary procedure.>> Oswaldo, Thank you for your interest in this new project! Currently, the only Cuban DNA that has been submitted for the project is my own (actually, my brother's, since the male DNA yields the most information). It is still in the lab and the initial report is promised for Jan. 9, 2005. The results will tell me things such as certain group Haplotypes (Western European, African, Sefarditas, Norwegian "clan" descent???), as well as if I have any matches in the thousands of people already in the database. Obviously, it will be unable to tell me if I am related to other families in Cuba of which I do not have documentation until we have many more participants that can be matched. By family tradition, I am told I also have a direct line to the house of Borbon. Perhaps we can get some current royalty to give up a few DNA cells for our data base? :) As time progresses and more people join, exponentially we will continue to get much more information on matches. The projects (both individual surname and regional) are growing very quickly. The cost may be prohibitive to some, but I encourage anyone who has spent many, many hours researching for nil, or spent time and money on trips to other countries for research, to consider this as part of doing our "genealogy" business. It is the future of genealogy, and it is here. The prices run from $159-$419 per test, obviously the most expensive being the most detailed in results. All information can be found on the site: _Family Tree DNA_ (http://www.familytreedna.com/) Use the link below to join the project and purchase your DNA test. _http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=L87495_ (http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=L87495) Here is another site that may interest you: _http://www.ysearch.org/_ (http://www.ysearch.org/) Best Regards, Martha Moreira Yunis PS The Cuba DNA Project may not appear on the site until after the weekend. She remembers that Isabel Rubio was a famous person before her time and that the town of Mendoza real name is Isabel Rubio in honor of her. She also remembers that her mother's docotor was Dr. Rubio, who was either Isabel Rubio's son or grandson. She also thinks that a family with the last name Fajardo, particulary Alberto Fajardo who are famous musicians, would know more as they always lived in Guane. Right now, she says that these same Fajardo, one lives in Miami, Florida and one in New Jersey. My grandmother hopes that this little bit of info will assist you, even in a small way.
