There is a list of Pando that travel to Cuba. My great grandmother, Aurora Pubillones de Capo sister, Virtudes was married to Celestino Pando. They live in Guantanamo, Cuba in the late 1800's. They were also my grandfathers godparents and was told they had many children. If at one point they lived in Pinar del Rio that I would not know but would gladly ask my cousin who might remember them. Manuela contrajo matrimonio con Adalberto Llopiz, y generaron a Margot y Adalberto. Miguel contrajo matrimonio con Amalia Castillo, y yo soy el fruto de su union. Los Sanchez Cartas se localizan en Camaguey y La Habana, Los LLopiz Carta en Santa Clara,Los Cartas se ubicaron en La Habana, para ! lego residir en los EU. Existen otras ramas de Cartas,pero realmento no estoy lo suficientemente versado para netrar en detalles. En el registro natal de Santa Cruxz de Tenerife y en Lanzarote estan registrados muchos Cartas Y Carta. El apellido es comun en Sardinia y no tan comun, pero existente en Sicilia. It will come in handy in the future, however I found her name because she was listed as Bartolome's contact in Cuba (Mother - Rosa Caudal), not as an arriving passenger, so I believe that is her correct "maiden" name as we would say in the US. Carlos Aulet Caudal is actually the son of Rosa, not her husband. I am not sure what her husband name would be, but I guess it may be Carlos Aulet. Do be aware that at the Ellis Island entry, the "American way of surnames" came into play, and it didn't matter that the wife coming in had never used her husband's surname, only her own father's then mother's surname.....at the Ellis Island, they USUALLY entered HIS surname method, especially if she was traveling with him (but not always!). I am hoping someone may be familiar with their family and be able to help. My husband's grandfather was Alberto Aulet Fernandez who was born in 1917 in Havanna, Cuba. He had many siblings and half siblings and owned Aulet Lamparas Fluorescentes in Havanna. I found a phone book from 1958 that listed the shop and some of his brothers in Havanna. His mother was Aurora Fernandez Morales and his father was Carlos Aulet Caudal. I only know his mother's name and nothing else. His father Carlos was born in 1869 in Cuba and may have had a brother Bartolome. He may have also been a firefighter in Havanna. Alberto loved to travel to the US, so I have a few manifests listing his arrival, plus some listed with Bartolome and Alberto's brothers and one of his sisters. Through these manifests I found that Carlos' mom may have been Rosa Caudal, but I can only guess that Carlos' ! father was also Carlos Aulet. Alberto left Cuba in the late 1950s or early 1960s with his wife and children. Does anyone have any information regarding this family and where they may have emigrated from?
