Yes, Cuban Genealogy Club is alive and kicking! They publish a very nice "newsletter" or revista called Raices de la Perla and hold periodic meetings that are a lot of fun. If I remember correctly, one of the members found his Capote in that index. Do you have the exact date for Alejandro's birth? I wouldn't dismiss the lead even if the dates are not quite right. Are there Rodriguez Capote's in your family tree? If so, which generation? As for me, I am very curious about the Vicente who you mention, but I'm not sure he's my great great great grandfather. What I do know is that mine married Margarita de la Cruz (and I believe both were from Havana and before that, I don't know). What I also know, is that they had my great great grandfather Alejandro Ignacio Rodriguez Capote de la Cruz in February 1777. The Vicente in the records that you mentioned, seems a bit too young to have had Alejandro in 1777. I also know that after Havana, Alejandro was in Cardenas most of the time. On a different note, is that Cuban Club still in existence? I joined it, but now I never receive e-mails anymore. Thank you again and I look forward to hearing from you. It is believed that Bruno Valdes Miranda came to Cuba, from Venezuela (where he was born) - The last name Valdes-Miranda is not in any records in Venezuela. (Or in Spain's ancestry books) Don Bruno had his wife's name changed (for his own fancy) from Ludgarda to "Delia" (Can not blame him there - wuldn't you) - As a poet and a romantic, he adored the woman (Dona Ludgarda) so he invented her a new name... Bruno "the poet" changed Ludgarda's name to "Delia" for his own fancy; because he did not like Ludgarda (Can you blame him?) Ludgarda "Delia" suffered from tuberculosis in her later years. A common sickness at the times Bruno and Delia had as many as 4 children (maybe more) - Graciela Valdez-Miranda de la Pena, Ortencia Valdes-Miranda de la Pena, Adalberto Ernesto Valdes-Miranda de la Pena, there is another brother who's name is not ringing a bell.
