The Joshua Hempstead Diary (written daily in NL from 1711-1758) and indexing thousands of names has the following Jones: Amos, Elizabeth, Ehraim, Henry, Jabez, Mary, Sarah, Thoas and about a dozen just "jones" - when I have more time I'll check out the references for you -Meg Smeal
