    1. [CTNEWLON-L] Missing vital records
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XZ.2ADE/1406 Message Board Post: I am wondering if anyone else has encountered a similar lack of records on ancestors, as follows: My ancestor Obadiah STARK(S) (b. 1725 or 1730, son of William STARK and Experience LAMB) had birth records for his three oldest siblings recorded in the Groton vital records. Neither he, nor his other two older nor two younger siblings are recorded in any records I can find. I have searched the whole of Barbour. I have found marriage records for all the siblings but two – but NOT for Obadiah, who supposedly married about 1750 Susanna WALSWORTH. Land records show Obadiah buying land in 1751 in Norwich, saying he is of Colchester. Then in 1755 he sells this same land, saying he is of New London. In 1761 he receives a grant of land in Nova Scotia (with the original grants to New England Planters). He obviously did not stay in Nova Scotia, for in 1765 he sells his Nova Scotia land, and is back in Colchester buying land. I have been unable to find birth records for any of his children, either in Colchester or New London (or anywhere in Barbour). Any suggestions as to what might have happened with all these births not being registered, or where else I might look to find them? Any help would be much appreciated. Frances
