I am sure you are right about the letter being misread in the 1850 census. Seabury Thomas was my great-great grandfather. In your email you said, " checked the census indexes at the Center at came up with the following list of Head-of household names. (There is a 1900 Soundex too) If you would like a full lookup of one of the years, let me know and I can send you scanned images as an email attachment unless you prefer otherwise. (Limited Info on full census) 1820 Index: Thomas, Daniel, Groton page 823. 1830 Index: Thomas, Daniel, Groton page 054. " If you could please send me the scanned images of these listings, I would appreicate it. Daniel is a family name and perhaps these are images of Seabury's father who was a Daniel born in 1757 Or his brother, Daniel, who was born in 1798. My g-g-g grandfather Daniel Thomas was born November 16, 1757 (although some records show 1767) but we've hit a deadend past him. We have never been able to locate any information on his parents what so ever. Thanks again so much for your time! Sharon Bridwell
